In Bloom Nirvana Cover

Hi everyone,

Outside of Teen Spirit, this was the first Nirvana song I ever heard.

I remember being at a friends house and asking who it was and when he told me it was Nirvana, I was instantly asking to borrow the album so I could have a proper listen.

I learned to play it on acoustic all those years ago and haven’t touched it since until my YT algorithm popped up Post Malone doing a lockdown version of it and I fell in love with it all over again and just had to do a cover of it.

The Genome software helped massively with getting the tone – the studio chorus/delay/compressor were a god send.

I’ve since upgraded to Ableton Live 12 which gives me unlimited tracks to mix with so I ended up doing 7 rhythm tracks, 2 for the solo and 2 for the bass and 1 for the backing drums and vocals.

I’m actually pretty happy with how it all sounds which is a rare treat.

Can you clarify the signal path for me. Is your guitar plugged directly into your input device and altered via the Genome plug-ins?

Yeah sure it goes like this –

Marshall into Captor load box ( you use the amps tubes to drive the signal and bypass the speaker out ) then Captor to Focusrite which goes into Ableton 12 on the Laptop then the Genome plugin opened in Ableton and then everything out through 2 KRK monitors.
