          Hey Bryce,

Is this for uploading sounds only, no video?

Would be great if one of you techies described how to upload both video and audio – pls keep it simple; some of us older pickers remain technologically challenged…

I went through your procedure for soundcloud, and uploaded a MP3 audio file I made.. I attached the URL for the clip below. Let me know if you see it OK

I can hear you loud and clear Patrick! Nice playing on that D-18. I hope you are going to post this in the “Showcase Your Playing” section.

are there any copyright issues associated with uploading? Say someone uses some lyrics from a copyright song or performs a guitar clip verbatim from such a song, or uses such as a backing clip. Have not heard any vocal on AM.

As I understand law, such use is OK if there is no intention to profit. I think its called “fair use”

                          Hi
This is my first time posting on the forum. Sorry if I’m in the wrong place. I don’t know quite where to post I have been a member of active melody since 2020 so I’ve been holding back posting on the forum but now would like too. How do I do that and where do I post. Also can I post from my Google drive?
                          Thank you so much
                          Wayne Sampson

Hi Wayne and I look forward to hearing your post to AM. You’re sure to get a lot of people responding with assistance. In the meanwhile, I’ll take a whack at it!

Most people here post to the “Showcase Your Playing” forum.

In addition to that there is a monthly challenge, the details of which are posted in the “Active Melody Forum Announcements”. You can read about the December challenge and, if you decide to participate, you can upload to the “Active Melody Member Challenge Response Submissions” forum. This month’s challenges should be uploaded between 1/5/24-1/7/24.

For help uploading your music check out the “Forum Help And Other Tutorials” forum. You will find rather detailed instructions for using YouTube and SoundCloud. I would say about 99% of users will post a video of their playing to YouTube but there are a couple that just post audio to SoundCloud. (Google drive is not a good idea as a lot of people will not click/download from external links due to security concerns.) Video is preferred because then your playing can be viewed and people can see how you’re playing.

Good luck and I hope to see your playing submission soon! If you have any more questions don’t hesitate to ask questions here in this forum.

Mel, I’ll try to help but I’m not sure where you’re having trouble. I assume you want to use Soundcloud since where in the “How To Upload Sound Files of your playing to Soundcloud and Post them to the Forum” forum!

Did you create an account by clicking the “Create Account” button at the top of the Soundcloud.com initial page? Then you have to follow the steps to create your account.

                                Screenshot-2024-01-15-at-4.20.32 AM

And then did you click the “Upload” button at the top of the page and then either drag and drop your files in the window or click the “or choose files to upload” button? I have always clicked the “or choose files to upload” button and then selected the file I want to upload.

                                Screenshot-2024-01-15-at-4.19.33 AM

I might be able to help if you give a little more specific info where you ran into problems.

                                Joe
