Dear guitar lovers. To use Brian’s backing tracks I have bought a JamMan SoloXT pedal. I have now downloaded the free software JamManagerto my computer. My problem is that I cannot figure out how to transfer the backing tracks from my Mac to the JamMan pedal.
I would be most grateful for help. Thank you!
        Kindest regards

I.e, backing tracks from my Mac into the software JamManager and from there to the pedal and to the amp.

I have a JamMan Solo XT and I love it, but transferring backing tracks is not as straightforward as one would hope. I use a PC, not a Mac, but assume it is similar. Honestly the easiest way to do it is to skip the JamManager software and record the backing track straight from the headphone output on your computer to the pedal via the aux in port.

If you really want to do it digitally with the software, it can be done but is not intuitive or straightforward. I can try to walk you through the steps as I just re-figured out how to do it and it would be good for me to document myself as I’ll probably forget again. Let me know.

Dear Doug, I would very much appreciate your assistance to transfer backing tracks to my computer digitally using the JamManager. To me it seems very awkward to provide a software that is so unfriendly to use. I think we all can agree to that!
                Thank you.

Yes. I agree. I transfer to my Jam Man by selecting the mp3 on my iphone, then recording via a jack plug to my Jam Man.

Yes, that’s one of the frustrations. Brian’s backing tracks are mp3 format, which JamManager will not read. You will need to first convert the track to wav format. There are conversion programs available, but I do it in my daw software. I use Studio One, however freeware Audicity should work.

Hi Tomas video link which might help also if you take the sd card and connect it to your computer would that not allow you to transfer the tracks to sd card. There is a guy called Rich Menga on Amazon who does an ebook on the Jamman Xt solo but do not know if he includes what you want

And thanks to you DougE Isee what you mean about the MP3 backing tracks having to be converted before you can put in the manager, their product page says you can import Mp3 into the pedal with the the Aux connection, wonder if you can name them if visible in the manager after that and whether they are wav ot something else.

That video was for a different version of JamManager, but it still helped me to figure out some stuff. I put together a pdf instruction sheet with the steps for the current version of JamManagerXT (v2.3.5).

It was useful for me to do this and this method does have some advantages over directly recording onto the JamMan via the aux input. Use whatever method works for you.

                                    Good luck!

I honestly am curious as to what advantage you speak off,, latest lesson I did repeatedly on my windows10 desktop where I have to open AM in two windows to try and catch the soundslice tab and walking it FROM THE BEGINNING using another window for the jamtrack which I found difficult because there is no option to set up a count into the beginning of the track to follow the tab..anotherwords difficult to sync unless I Memorized the lesson! lol.. than I only need the jamtrack..but to shrink one window to open up the soundslice ..I miss the first cue/count measure whatever.. I jst did ep291 and explained this to Brian to see if it is something he can do to promote his site for this issue.. otherwise yes other software as you might use is the way to go especially for beginners like me! lol

You don’t need to open another window to play the backing tracks John, your media player should handle that without any problems.

I was thinking about that just the other day John. It would be nice to have the backing track be an option to play synchronously in the SoundSlice. Not sure if this is possible or not but that would be a great feature. Especially if it would slow it down as well.

Otherwise loading up the backing track onto a pedal would at least allow you to hit the pedal with your foot at the same time you start the SoundSlice without fiddling with multiple windows and mouse clicks. You’d have to be sure the speeds are set the same though.

They could only send me some screen shots from a Windows machine and some confusing, obtuse info about paths and naming that would make track names all but useless. Hi Thomas. Glad you got the help you needed to figure it out. Doug did a great job. You were not alone with this issue though, that’s for sure. I got a JamMan Stereo about 6 months ago and it took me quite a few clicks of trial and error to figure it out. Finally I did. Sometimes I may go two months before I add a track and it’s like I need to start all over again! I’m willing to bet they have not updated the software since the day they put it out. It’s too bad you can’t use mp3’s as they take up less space than the .wav files.

Anyway, glad you got it and hope you enjoy it.

I’m amazed at how supportive and caring this group seems to be. Thanks for your comments above. Your suspicions about the software are the same as mine. In talking to their rep there was no indication that they have plans for any major overhaul. Although he did send me a link to a beta version. I was advised in the harmon.com email, “This email or download link can not be forwarded to anyone else.” I’ll abide by their restriction but also say that there is a version 2.3.7 available in beta.

I suggested to Doug that he might want to send his fix to JamMan (Harmon), which he has done. Hopefully they will forward Doug’s info as it’s much more helpful than what Harmon has been putting out!

By the way, that’s a great looking dog. To paraphrase W.C. Fields, “I prefer most dogs to some humans.” Or as I read somewhere about the loyalty and devotion of dogs, “Put your dog and your wife in the trunk of your car. Drive around town for a while. Then open up your trunk and see which one give you a kiss!”
