This is one cool place to be. I have been a member for a couple of weeks now and there is so much good stuff it is hard to focus and make any progress.

I have started a couple of different lessons and found they were a little( ok some of them a lot) over my head. I read in another post how one guy sets his favorites up as learning, on deck and played so I did that also.

I then clicked the easy beginners link as I am not very far along. And decided to favorite a few lessons so I would have a plan. I am dividing my learning between lead and rhythm.

I have been working on EP219 as I thought it was easy enough I could play along. I have been working on it 2 nights now and it is actually starting to sound a little like lead guitar playing.

I am thrilled, can’t wait to see where this site takes me.

I hear you Doug! It can be option paralysis with as many lessons as Brian has.

I would just pick one lesson and stick with it for a given period of time.

Brian made a reference a while back to online lessons like a food buffet. We keep starting at one item then see something more shiny then move before finishing the first.

The micro lessons are great for short lessons that can improve your skills so you can work up to the lessons you think are over your head.

Don’t forget to post questions or video of yourself playing on the forum if you get stuck. Other members can really help you out, offer tips to help you get something done faster as well as be encouraging.

Let me know if you have any questions or need assistance on the forum.

          Warm Regards,

I have been known to practice a lesson for an entire month, until I can play it 100% to my satisfaction. Other lessons I can learn 100% in one day.

That’s what I am going to do, I am not going to go to another lesson until I can play this one reasonably well. I expect some to take a long time.

I am doing two of the lessons and one micro lesson and wont add any until I can play them well. Maybe a bit slower but well. So far the two regular lessons I have been on for almost two weeks. Almost there but not quite. I think you have a good plan.

                  I’m a chronic grazer

I’ve knuckled down these last few months to structure my playing but there are sooo many good lessons out there

And SIGH 219 is gonna have to have a visit thanks for the heads up

                  😉

I am going to sprinkle in some micro lessons in there as needed. In learning EP219 I see holes in my technique. i saw where there are micro lessons on string bending and vibrato both of which I need to improve but going to watch these after I get comfortable with 219. I plan to use these to improve things I notice needs fixing as I go through the lessons.

Same place. Couple weeks in and starting to get the feel for the lessons. Echo the above comment. I tend to spend however long it takes to get something down. It is very tempting to hop around. I have dug myself into a huge rut. Still trying to find the right formula for taking advantage of what Brian is offering. So many shiny things…..

What I am very impressed with is a majority of what Brian has done ties in with everything. I have my first one about down but refuse to post a video until I have added to what he presented. That is the whole point isn’t it? Make something your own…not to mention the song writing that comes along with it.

Would the term creative noodling be right?

I spent the last two days working down into 2nd and third position off of one of his micro lessons trying to extend a basic small thing. Just an amazing approach to teaching. I would write him and tell him that but he probably gets enough of those emails.
