Putting this in the right place since I was jumping the gun on the challenge. Improv based on two-note harmonies and some rock jamming.
I’m trying to learn how to switch from finger style to a pick by tucking the pick under my fingers. It is not going too well, so a couple pauses and one section I had to edit/punch in because I dropped my pick and did not want to rerecord. Doh!!
Anyway, enjoyed making this one. I use a Gibson 61′ SG into the Kemper with a profile called 56 Pro 8 by Michael Britt. Turned on a little flanger and goosed up the reverb a touch.
I hope everyone is having a great weekend! Still cold here 🙂

Hey Dave, a lot of good musical ideas coming out of your explorations. Heard a bit of Rush in there.
Your ’61 SG/Les Paul has always been one of my favorite guitars, especially the ones with the Maestro Vibrato.

Yes, there is a nod to Working Man in there. This SG is a modern custom shop so not a vintage guitar. I like lightweight guitars so tend to avoid the vibrato hw. I’m always looking for guitars that are under 7 pounds.

Hey Dave, if I ever get a ’61 Custon Shop Les Paul/SG Standard . I would get it without the vibrola. I’ve read a lot of reviews that say the vibrola causes tuning problems, and Gibson’s are already hard to keep in tune. The vibrola looks so cool, but I would probably never use it.

Very well played, Dave – had an Allman Brothers vibe to it, I felt, which is always going to be a winner in my books – Mark 👍🎶😎

Sounds awesome Dave.
That is some amount of impressive gear you have to play with there.
I agree with Ralph – a lot of Rush and a touch of prog rock in there.
Loved it.

This is a great performance Dave and the fact that you play sp smoothly without the help of a backing track makes it even more challenging!!!💗💜💕💞

Thanks everyone! Good ears catching the Rush influenced riff. I have been learning a few of their songs (without solos).

Thought you were going to play Hells Bells with your SG.
Very nice improv, loved the heavy part, I agree with Ralph sounded like Alex Lifeson from Rush.
Well done man, nice studio.AndréM
