May 24, 2017 at 5:30 pm #70713I just tried to record myself in FL Studio (DAW) and had to crank up the volume knobs on both my guitar and Amp to nearly full to get adequate signal into my software program…..are there circuits anywhere that will boost my signal between my guitar and Amp? I know there are professional ones but I just need something simple and since I have an electronics background I just need a circuit? how much gain will I need? Neil.

May 24, 2017 at 7:32 pm #70716How are you capturing the sound…guitar/amp directly via USB to a capture device, external MIc, other? Roberto

May 25, 2017 at 9:06 am #70724Interesting, I do that from my Fender Mustang 3, USB into Garageband, I don’t always like the sound, but it is loud, and I manage the volume on the DAW/Garageband, not the guitar or amp. Unfortunately, I’m not familiar with the SW you are using so not much I can add except I don’t think you need anything external, sounds like a sound driver problem on the interface between the SW and the PC. If you are already turning up the original sound from the amp (what amp?)….maybe there’s a sound driver from the amp that has to be used. I got fed up with all the interface problems, so I only use 3 methods now: real mics, Irig (which is the device you are looking for, has onboard gain, but I believe only for IOS devices) and some direct camera or Ipad video sound capture, import to garageband. June 1, 2017 at 12:49 am #71650I also had a very small signal in my DAW. Then I bought the ART Tube MP Project Series. Then everything was okay.
When I got an MP from Allen & Heath, I did not need the preamp anymore. The signal was strong enough.
If the signal is too weak in the DAW, you can use a trick.
Copy your sound file to an additional track; So you increase the volume. Maybe that’s enough.Wilfried Play guitar just like you live; don't get bogged down in theory, it's just a tool without feeling. Wilfried
