Glen Campbell passed away today. A great loss, but a great legacy. Gentle on My Mind, Wichita Lineman, By the Time I get to Phoenix, and so many more. There’s a film (“I’ll Be Me”) documenting his final tour as Alzheimers took over and it’s heartbreaking to see him not know where he is and then amazing when he hits the stage and muscle memory kicks in and he’s singing and playing as well as ever. In his early days he was a top studio guitarist, and I believe a lot of the Beach Boys recorded guitar work was actually Glen Campbell. My little local band, like thousands of others I suspect, will be putting together a tribute set. R.I.P. Glen Campbell. You gave us a lot.

I am very sorry to hear of his passing and we lost a talented musician. It may have been a blessing with the illness that he was fighting. He lived to sing and play and if you took that away from him he may not of been very happy. I still remember as a kid seeing him on stage with that Ovation guitar and was amazed by it and he could sure make it talk. He will be missed for sure,

I’ve got to echo what has been already said by Canada Moose & Gary B. The Glen Campbell show was terrific back in the day and he was an icon and will be sorely missed. He was so courageous and a real fighter – will always remember his contribution to music.

He surely will be missed. I’ll never forget the first time I viewed this video. which was written and performed by Glen some time after his alzheimer’s diagnosis. Anyone who ever viewed this without tearing up has no soul.

For many of us Glen Campbell’s wonderful recordings of Jimmy Webb hits like Wichita Linesman and Galverston are synonymous with the late 60’s and early 70’s. He’ll be sorely missed and his legacy as a legendary singer/guitarist will long live on. RIP

The passing of Glen Cambell is a great loss to American Music. We watched the Glen Cambell Show regularly on his TV shows in the UK. Very talented player, It was watching Glen and Carl Jackson that inspired me to start playing Banjo. I never quite made those silky fluid melodic runs, but nevertheless enjoyed trying. Richard.
