I’m new here and a bit overwhelmed. I’m not a beginner but haven’t played guitar for years. I used to play fairly simple country, old-time, and bluegrass rhythm guitar before switching to bass. Now I’m back to guitar and want to play the blues. There’s so much here I’m not sure where to jump in. Any guidance for a structured approach or progression?

        Thanks in advance!

          Hi Mo,
I know you’re not a beginner, but I can recommend the Essential Theory and CAGED system courses (the blue button top and center on the Weekly Lessons page). It could get you started in a direction.

Failing that, simply search for something that you like – a style, or even just a key you like to play in. Pick a lesson that you like the sound of and get started. One thing leads to another and next thing you know you’ve got ten lessons on your “To-Do” list 🙂

I got a lot out of lessons where Brian combines the major and minor key e.g. EP530
          Good luck!

            Hi Mo,
Aside from Keith’s great advice there isn’t a lot of sequential structured material. Brian tends to reinforce important concepts over and over in his lessons and it kind of comes together over time. Having said that, there is a subsection in the Lessons are called “Beginner Guitar Lessons (Easy)”. You could get your feet wet there.
Trust the process, learning in the context of Brian’s composed pieces really works. You can always supplement with other YouTube videos where you feel the need.

              Mo,
Find lessons (tunes) you like and work on them. You have a wealth of learning tools at your disposal. Share a recording when you feel comfortable. There is no one formula for learning. We all learn differently.
