I wanted to post this just to show what you can do with the Zoom R8 as your recording device. If the Zoom R12 is the latest version then more tracks to work with. This will be the last post until I post a lesson. Just thought it would be helpful if you need a decent electric bass guitar to add to your playing, the Glarry bass is a good choice, it just needs a slight setup. I’m playing bass, guitar and drums here – I played drums years ago in a few bands.

Wonderful Chuck! What a wonderful multi-instrumental player you are.

Nicely done, Chuck. Thank you for the tips. When COVID hit and venues were shut down, my band tried to use Zoom (and a few other apps) to try to rehearse and jam, but there was far too much latency.

Thanks, sorry to hear that – probably best for home studio work. I haven’t tried using the Zoom to record a live performance with a band but thought with the external mics it might work.

Thanks, too kind – jack of all trades really. Don’t drum too regular much anymore but I’m a compulsive tapper every day and hit up the Djembe drum from time to time.

Well played and well arranged, Chuck. I bought one of the Zoom recorders earlier this year so that I could wander off into the forest and record myself. Before that, I was just using my iPhone, but I found that the Zoom gave me much better sound quality, plus I could put my iPhone as far away from me as I wanted.

Thanks, sounds good – it’s a great unit for that purpose. I use it from time to time to play the Djembe drum with the external mics and headphones on. Fun to experiment with the different effects.

Wow, an excellent multi-instrumental rendition Chuck! Always admired people who can play so many instruments, especially a guitar player who can also play drums. Very well played and enjoyable to listen to. About the R8. I bought one 5 years ago at the beginning of my adventure in AM. I used for a couple of years and it’s a great device, especially because portable and very light and it does an excellent job. Then a couple of years later I bought an audio interface and started to record directly in the computer and so my R8 was abandoned on the shelf in my bookcase, and eventually sold it recently. But, as I said, it’s a great device for those who need a portable, easy to use device and I sold it just to a drummer who needed it in live performances. He said me it’s like a Swiss Knife and you can do a bit of everything .

A great composition with lots of surprises. I love the chimes of the 6 string electric guitar, the solid bass and drum fills. Looking forward to hearing the final version!
