Hi All,
Another great lesson from Brian. Check it out if you haven’t already!
I’m playing this at 80% speed. I can play it faster, but I couldn’t make it ‘sing’. Another example of just how brilliant a player Brian is when he can play at tempo and always sound amazing.
All the best!

Sounds fantastic, Garry!! Great bends, alternate picking, fast runs, etc. Dynamics on this were spot one. Played with super touch and feel, and guitar tone was awesome!

Sounds great, Garry. Without checking out the lesson, the tempo sounds perfect. I often find the same thing, trying to get that last little bit of speed starts to affect the expression.

This was just some fine playing. Great expressiveness and timing. You nailed it Garry. Would never know you ever broke your finger!

Hi Joe.
Thanks for having a listen and commenting. I broke my ring finger on my left hand about 5 years ago at the base and it wasn’t good! I now have to bend using my middle finger when I play the pedal style licks. The communication and control between my ring and little finger generally is not always precise which is frustrating. I actually still play competitive domestic basketball each week so I’ve had a couple of finger breaks and a few ‘squashed’ knuckles over the years. Fingers crossed no more accidents!
Thanks again.
Keep on pickin’ and all the best!

So good, Garry. Your timing, tone inflections and bends are excellent. Classy sounding tune you’ve mastered.

Sounds great, Garry! Like John said, independent of the original tempo, this tempo sounds just fine and very musical. There is a lot going on with this one, between all the bends and some of the quick scale runs. Congrats and your rig is sounding great as usual.

Another great one from you Garry. This is one I did at close to full tempo but I think it might actually sound better played at the tempo you chose – I sometimes think Brian’s lessons actually do sound better played slower. Those bends at the 27 second mark are pretty tricky to pull of smoothly at the end of that fast natural major run. That was something I had to work really hard on and you did them really smoothly, great work on that.
The only thing I am “disappointed” with is you didn’t throw in your own improvs this time – I always enjoy those.

I love your ‘sound’ with your Strat a new amp. Crystal clear. I think your tempo is perfect. When arrangements are played too quickly, it’s hard to process or perceive what is being played. Thank you for sharing.John

Hey Garry,
Everything about this was 10 out of 10 I’d say.
Like others have said, I don’t think you’d know or care that it’s at a lower tempo it sounded brilliant the way you put it across.
The tone and settings were spot on and you nailed those fast runs with ease.
Personally I’d say this is your best post and performance to date.
Big well done mate.
Liam.

A super rendition Garry and I prefer your tempo as it allowed more clarity with those fluid runs. One classy piece with an impressive silky tone from your Strat.

Great lesson indeed, Gary! It sounds perfect on that speed as well. It wasn’t probably the most easier lesson and you did it pretty well.

I think it’s universal! we all prefer this tempo! A classy performance of a blues with all the inflections, expression and phrasing one could wish for. Listened to this on a crowded train commuting into London but it made the world feel a better place. Look forward to the next one Garry 👍

Just like everyone else Gary, I think it was most excellent. Good Ole Blues. Every so often I have to check in on this site and listen to some blusey stuff. Not my genre but a good break from where I like to sink my teeth into. Your comment on the speed sure hit home. I had a mother of a time getting myself up to speed on the song I’m currently working on. 170 bpm but played in all 8th notes and all hard pounding down strokes. It has taken me a while to get my speed to where I felt comfortable with it. Not sure I’m totally there. It’s hard to get the nuances down when you are concentrating on moving fast with the backing track. Your playing is very admirable.

Garry, I really like that tempo. I’ve not heard the lesson yet, but I would have never guessed it was supposed to be played any faster. It’s relaxed and you nailed it. Great job!!!

Very well played, Garry. I really liked the tempo, because it allowed playing refinements to come through very well. Bravo!
Play guitar just like you live; don't get bogged down in theory, it's just a tool without feeling.

Garry,
Played with great feel and touch. The timing and expression are soooo good. You really have a natural grasp on projecting a certain quality not easily mastered by many of us. Keep ’em coming my friend.
