Take 2 — Hmmm, I edited my post and it has disappeared from the list!

        ———————————————————————————————-
My friend (PhilG) and I joined around Dec 1 ’19 and have been trying to catch up ever since! This week we said, Let’s try and do a lesson in one week and see what happens. The first half came ~quickly, but the 2nd half was a bit of a bear. I don’t memorize very well, especially single lead lines. So I recorded while following along with the tab (which presents its own issues).

I used the slow version of the backing lesson (50bpm) to record. I haven’t tried the normal speed version yet, but I sort of like the slow version. A couple of the early licks reminded me of David Lindley on Jackson Browne’s These Days tune.

I’ll have to re-figure out all that video recording stuff, but for this version I just uploaded to soundcloud.

Brian wanted spacey (ha, ha). I used my old G-DEC 15 (original model) modelling amp plugged into the digital audio interface into Sonar 8.5.3. My GDEC has the knob issue where it is impossible to dial in a setting, so I set the default setting to be a fairly clean one and then use plugins to add reverb/delay and those sorts of things. Volume and tone knobs all the way up on the guitar.

Well Kevin, sound real food there! I still haven’t gotten through the whole thing in one piece.

            Kevin,

That is Super Impressive – to my ear it sounds exactly like Brians’ – The playing, tone and timing are right on the money. Keep it up my friend, this is a keeper.

Welcome to AM Kevin.. I think it is a good slow tempo.. sometimes sounds better than fast tempos and this one is pretty good tempo and playing too hahaha I use to use my fender G=DEC 15 ( still have it with a towel over it keep dust off) use to be a favorite all the time here before I upgraded to my Yahama thr 10c 10watt for practice .. BOTH ARE GOOD ENOUGH but like the features and presets much better imho and conveniently sits inches away next to my computer keypad.. anyway you did good !

Hey Kevin, that was fantastic man. I love this type of alt country music, so was happy when Brian put this one out there. Your playing was top notch! This reminds me a little of Jason Isbell, who I am a big fan of.

Clarke: I merged my version with Brian’s to see how I did and except for the slide to the 9th fret 3rd string in measure 3, the slide to the 8th fret 3rd string in measure 8 (I am starting to see a pattern here!) and a little hiccup in the lick in measure 13/14, I did come pretty close. Armed with the knowledge of the counting required from ep347, I tried and tried to count it, but it is hard for me to count while playing! And while I know it is not that important to get it exactly right as long as it sounds good, it is nice to come close. I have’t tried the full speed version yet. I am working on ep324 right now and I just can’t get that tone yet.

sunburst: That Yahama thr 10c looks like a pretty cool amp. One of these days, I will take apart my gdec and try and fix that knob issue.

                              DaveK: Jason Isabell is great.

PhilG, JohnB, AlanK, Ivan, JamesB, CraigS, Dieter and all those who might have stopped by and listened/commented: mucho thanks.
