I always love the Ragtime lessons. It’s great how Brian can have so much diversity in the material he gives us. So many different styles of music. Something for everybody.

Great rendition James, spotlessly played both the rhythm and solo parts! I’m also currently practicing this great lesson and your playing is really inspiring!

Beautifully played, James. With you and Helen, it’s ragtime, all the time, here at AM. You two are going to inspire me to pull out an acoustic if you’re not careful.

Mr B. you and your twin did a fabulous job on this one.
              Sounds great.

You make it look so effortless James! Fluid playing, nailing all those notes and fingerpicking with expression and class. Your brother’s not too bad too. Loved it. All the best! 😎🎸😎

Wonderful picking with so much musical expression – really great. I’m also working on it at the moment and am having great difficulty with the accompaniment in particular.

Oh James!!!!If I had known you were going to post this fantastic piece I wouldn’t have posted my ragtime the same period🤣🤣🤣Your playing is amazing,so effortless and smooth!!!I wonder how many years it will take me to play like that🤣🤣🤣🤣By the way, what is this thing you are wearing on your thumb and why?

                        Thanks Helen,
That thing on my thumb is called a thumb pick. It helps to give the bass notes a little more of an accented ‘thump’ or volume. Chet Atkins, played with one and I wanted to emulate his style. Thanks for listening and commenting.

Pro performance James 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻 The only thing missing is some added lyrics aka the Fishin’ Blues.

Good ear, Scott. I knew there was a familiar song in that chord progression. “Fishin’ Blues” is it.

Hugely enjoyable James and I’ll tell you, playing lead lines over something like that is not easy by any stretch.

I agree some vocals over that would have topped it off nicely.

Hi James , great take on the lesson with both parts , very fluently played , you just need to conjure up some lyrics to match .
I’m also currently learning this one and it’s a challenge especially the rhythm section.
Good idea using the thumb pick to accent the bass line .

Brilliantly played James, there was so much to enjoy with your super duet with both parts played to a level we all aspire to. Top marks for playing with the thumbpick, it certainly does give the piece some clarity.

James, that’s some great finger picking there – very precise and musical. And much enjoyed your accompaniment as well. I’ve heard you sing, awesome voice – keep up the great work.
