Hello my dearest AMers ♥️ 💖
Here I am with something totally different in my repertoire! On my own on the acoustic 🤩🤩🤩🤩and what a guitar!!!Manolis (our school colleague who I sometimes post videos with)made it especially for me,using rare wood and great expertise!!!He is a great luthier! The best gift I could ever get!!!So I went out of my comfort zone and not only learned a ragtime blues piece but even dared to compose my own in the second part💞❤️❣️
Thanks for watching!

So good to have you back Helen. 😁.
Very well played! Ragtime blues stuff is not easy to play and you nailed it pretty well especially with your own part.
That guitar is a really beautiful instrument and custom built too. Hang onto that one , well made instruments are precious 💙.

What a beautiful guitar Helen, I loved the ragtime piece and your composition, I thought brought the bass and middle tones out really well.
Your recorded sound was very natural, just how did you mic it up?Richard

Richard don’t laugh but I had to ask Mike about your question because I just played it and gave it to him on Cubase the program we use.Sohe said:he used a little high pass filter, low pass filter,a little reverb and a little compressor 🤩🤩🤩🤩🤩

A beautiful, well-crafted one-of-a-kind instrument, played to perfection. The tone is wonderful, and your technique, as always, is spot-on. Your improvisation was impressive and I could have listened to more. Well done, on many levels. Congratulations on your wonderful new guitar! I look forward to hearing much more on it in the future!

Just fantastic, Helen! Your incredible guitar chops transfer to the acoustic very nicely, your playing here was flawless! Especially that you didn’t exactly choose an easy piece to play but a ragtime with so many chord changes! Excellent work on both, your musical talents shine through as always!
The custom made guitar is an absolute stunner, it sounds very nice on the recording, you’re lucky to have your own luthier, wow! 😍

That was beautifully played Helen. Your improv piece was spectacular too. And what a beautiful guitar which sounds great! Congrats on the guitar and playing a pretty difficult tune.

Great choice of a lesson to introduce your new guitar, Helen. I love ragtime music and you played it very well. How cool to have a luthier friend to make you a lovely instrument. Play us another one soon.

Congrats on your new luthier’s acoustic guitar, wonderful! I immediately noticed that is a 12 fret guitar, uncommon for a steel string guitar and very special with a great sound. And your playing for this great and not easy lesson is absolutely brilliant! Loved to listen to it and very inspiring!

Thank you so much!!!You are right!!!It’s 12 fret and Manolis told me that this was the standard one in the 30ies !But now it’s becoming popular again because of its unique tonal qualities!!!and it’s body is small,so it suits me perfect 🥰 💞

Wow Helen, a guitar made specifically for you. What a privilege! Looks and sounds fantastic and it’s really great to hear you on acoustic. Specially loved the bends around the 2.08 mark. All the best! 😎🎸😎

Helen
Wonderfully played! Congrats on the guitar and playing outside of your comfort level. You must be really excited. I love acoustic-its more earthy, simple, authentic and on and on. I love the reverb on the second go around. Nicely composed. Can’t wait to hear more.JH

That was simply brilliant Helen.
The timing and execution was spot on and the sound from that acoustic – superb.
Ragtime is pretty difficult but you nailed that no doubt and you can tell on your improv that lesson inspired you.
And what a gift having a local luthier build that for you. It must have been like Xmas!
