Hi everyone,
thanks a lot for your encouraging feedback to my recent winter melody post. I wanted to share this happier winter mood version (key of A Major) with you while waiting for this ultimate 2020 month’s open challenge. I have the feeling that this will be a great guitar festival with plenty of creative versions to discover…
See and hear you in a few remaining December days…🙂 Jay -

Great stuff there Jay, I can hear a touch of Hank Marvin in your solo, are The Shadows one of your influences?.

Jay,
Another beautiful composition. I was trying to see what you were doing in the 3 times I watched. Looked like a lot of major pentatonic and harmonized diads. Then, I also thought I saw you using arpeggio shapes to find melody notes. Sounds like all the hard work behind the scenes is really starting to pay off. I’m wondering if you’ve had a sort of breakthrough lately or am I just starting to take notice of your fine playing?

Hi John, thanks for your feedback. Yes, I think I have made some progress in my playing. I try to focus as much as possible on aspects like aiming at the thirds of the chords coming along, to see the shapes underneath and to associate these with the pentatonic and aperggio positions. Also, I try to put in repetitive melodic ideas. What also helps to improve is the fact to play yourself the rhythm and the chords in different neck positions. And finally, I like to analyze the progression (1, 2, 4) which sounds nice to me, in this progression for example I also come up with the C and the D Major chords which I consider as the 4 and the 5 chords of the G key. So this allows me to play the A Minor pentatonic across, since at this moment the A Major changes to A Dorian. So, yes, there is so much to think about even in a simple progression like this one… and so many skills still to aquire…

Yep, them melody notes are very sweet.
The melody of the notes is what expresses the art of music . 🙂 6stringerPete
It really is all about ”melody”. The melody comes from a language from our heart. Our heart is the muscle in music harmony. The melody is the sweetness that it pumps into our musical thoughts on the fretboard. 🙂 6 stringer Pete
