I saw a posting from Sunjamr on the Dec. challenge and some of the challenges in playing the major scale over one of Brian’s tracks. For some reason it seems to me that it’s easier to play the relative minor of the major scale even though you are playing the same notes of the major scale less 2 notes. ( 5 v’s 7 ) I tried playing the major scale over one of the tracks and the 5th sounded lousy when played in the major scale but every note sounds good over the relative minor…..just my 2 cents.

Brian does say that the minor scale will be used to, I wouldn’t sweat it tbh Tim as we also have the option to play a lesson verbatim, not that I’ll be doing the challenge again this month, just way too much going on at home and work to find any guitar time.

Billy,
Yep, agree a lot going on right now with the holidays and such. If I have time I’ll do the challenge, if not then another time. Happy Holidays.

I just went through 340 playing along while listening to Brian explain in his intro lesson.. just another fun lesson and with it comes more of the basic understanding of ..(chord or scale) meaning of words like intervals.. Diatonic ..arpeggios ..triads.. double stops 3rds 6ths octaves etc..
It’s a long process but generally a beginners coarse,, only when and after months even years of practice can one see well enough the broad picture..
..memorizing the tab isn’t as much important as for knowing what is being played,, yet I still find cool takeaways by following and memorizing the tabs.. all these lessons are much easier to complete but not rushing but following closely reveals more than just terminology. Good to know both when practicing!
