Nice picking, Greg. I couldn’t hear the jam track though?

Sorry James I kept adjusting the volume on the speaker. Didn’t want it to overwhelm the guitar. What’s the best way to play the backing track? I just ran it through a speaker. Obviously not loud enough

There’s an option on each lesson to download the mp3 of the backing track. Then you can import it into a sound editor, like GarageBand, audacity or something. Then use an interface like the Uaudio Volt or Scarlet to plug your guitar into a computer and record.

Or, just play it through the speaker and record a few seconds of yourself playing along and then listen back to test levels.

Like James said couldn’t hear the backtrack.

Some nice picking, Greg! I can only imagine how it would sound if you could really hear the backing track. Pretty good, I think. But even so, you can hear that you’ve come up with a really nice melody.

You followed the changes well hitting those chord tones , as for the recording side of things , maybe experiment with different volume levels for guitar and backing track , getting a decent recording is as hard as trying to play the lesson sometimes
I think it’s a learning curve and all part of the process.

Sounded like some good playing Greg. You’ll figure out the recording process.

Some nice clean playing there, Greg – it just needed a bit more volume on the backing track, that’s all, nothing major!

Many of us record into a DAW of some kind – that way, we can adjust the balance after we’ve played, rather than trying to get it right whilst playing as well. There are some pretty decent – and free – DAWs available for Phones, Tablets and Other devices. Just aks for help on the forum if you need any advice.

                            Best regards – Mark 👍🎶😎

Nicely played Greg. Yes the BT was a bit quiet but it came through on the headphones, so I could hear you hitting the chord tones in the right places.

It just takes some trial and error to pull all the pieces together. It’s part of the Internet Era Social Media Musical Sharing learning curve we all have to climb. It is a separate skill set from musicianship, as you are no doubt aware.

Nice and relaxed playing, I liked that you kept minimal amount of notes. It looks like you have a nice semi-hollow type of guitar, I like the natural finish.

Before I got the home studio equipment, I set my bookshelf speakers right next to the amp facing in the same direction and cranked the speakers up as high as them would go and just recorded with my phone. The amp will tend to be louder than the backing track so moving the amp as far back as possible or maybe even putting some foam in front of the amp speaker that will cut down on the amp sound and enhance the backing track sound. It’s tough to get it balanced, but it’s possible as long as the amp is dialed back. You just have to do some testing to find the right balance of guitar and backing track volume.

Great job on guitar work. I could still hear that you played in time with it and that’s really good in my book.

Go slow and practice correct technique, and your abilities will dramatically improve.

Hey Greg, your picking is coming along. Good chord tone targeting and your tempo was right with the track. Yeah, the recording thing can be tricky at first, until you find your methodology. But, however you record, keep posting in the challenges. It really gives you a goal to work toward and improves your playing.
