Happy New Year!
Didn’t have much time to prepare for this one and no time to fully inject Brian’s lesson for Ep496. So, I worked up a couple choruses imagined as some of my 1940s influences like T Bone Walker, Bill Jennings or Oscar Moore.
Looking forward to another good year of AM Challenges.

Very cool! This was my BT choice too, fun to hear what you did with it. Love the blend of smooth jazz voicings with raw blues growl and aggression. Bravo! 👏

Great bluesy jazz playing, Bill. And on such short notice. Nice out of the box riffs on this, and loved your chord work.

Nicely done in the short time Bill, some dynamic chord work there which gave it that punchy feel.

Nice guitar, and super groovy blues jam.
Go slow and practice correct technique, and your abilities will dramatically improve.

Having chosen the same BT I’m really glad that you didn’t played the original Brian’s but an original lead of your own! Something new and very refreshing for my ears, and especially so well crafted with a very original jazzy vibe and brilliantly played. A great rendition that shows your refined jazzy and “out of the standard rules” musicality!

Not having much time doesn’t seem to affect you much, Bill. It grooves and bursts with originality. Great take!
Just as I was getting into the groove, it was unfortunately already over. But good to know: I can always press play again.Take the chance to meet your AM friends on Zoom
The next Meetup will be on February 28, 2026For more information click here
I look forward to meet you.

Nice take Bill ,and impressive for a short study , leaning on your influences brings out the creativity with those alternative chords , love the tone of that guitar especially when you dig in a bit .

Awesome, Bill! Very groovy and energetic! I especially liked the part around 0:40 – very cool! (Priceless in combination with your look into the camera, as if to say “ hey now, look what I am playing” 😎

Tremendous that you could just pull that out of the proverbial hat, Bill. Bags of groove to enjoy and as always you injected that twist of jazz that gives it such a cool sound.

Hey Bill, yes, you really captured that ’40s blues feel. Nice lines and some great chordal work. I loved some of those voicings in there. Great the way you closed it out with some rhythm playing.

Bill, I had to give this a 2nd lesson because it so good. The smorgasbord of influences worked a treat. T Bone Walker move blended in so well as with the others. So creative to take handful of influences of the past and mix it over a Quist track. 👏
