Hello and a very Happy New Year to all my AM friends ♥️
It’s been a while since I posted anything, but I needed to take a little break 🤓
I haven’t spent a lot of time on this challenge – and I think it shows 😂😂 – just two passes, each using a different scale.
The first pass uses the A Minor Blues scale; the second, the A Mixolydian scale. For the transition between the two scales, I used the Freddie King A9 ‘Hideaway’ walkup. Brian taught us this walkup in what is probably my favourite lesson, EP383 (Jump Blues) and in Microlesson ML025.
I hope you enjoy my attempt, and I look forward to hearing the wide variety of Challenge responses from everyone else!
Best wishes 👍🎶😎 ♥️

It’s cool with these tracks when we all get to put a different spin on it. Nice take and sounded good.

A very lively and enjoyable rendition, Mark! I have to review those lessons because that Hideaway Walkup sounds very cool! Also for me my favourite part is the second mixolydian one, really sounded very original and lovely to listen to!

You nailed the turnaround on verse one, and some of those mixolydian licks were really fresh and interesting. Well done.

Yes, the mixolydian sounds very nice! You also added a bit “drama” with your lead, I really liked it.
Some great licks, bends and runs. That walkup sounded fantastic (I will copy). Great idea.
Well done.More Blues!

Great idea to use minor on the first cycle then mixolydian on the second Mark. Same piece, different vibe. Yes, and loved those bends, really on-point for sure. Enjoyed it. Happy New Year to you. All the best! 😎🎸😎

Good to see you back in the challenges, Mark. Those walk ups and walk downs entwined with all the other assets you used in the mix made for a very entertaining and interesting arrangement. Well done. Also those bends are rockstar material. I’m sure Keith Richards is smiling there behind you. Happy New Year and all the best 2025.

Nice use of the “leap frog” technique to keep those wonderful ideas fresh and enjoyable Mark. Great use of two different approaches to this VERY SLOW track.

Way to shred it, Mark! I only have one suggestion: Get a cardboard cutout poster of yourself and put it behind your left shoulder. After all, you’re world famous in Active Melody. We all are.

Yes your cardboard pic behind you alongside with Keif. That section beginning at :43 sure caught my attention. And then the rest was outstanding. Big time bends indeed.

Epic playing there Mark. The mixolydian runs were so dynamic and the bends would have raised the eyebrows of Mr Gilmour himself. That Freddie King move is one of my favourites too. Great sub and great to have you back.

Welcome back Mark with this great submission! Thanks for the inspiration on the Freddie King A9 ‘Hideaway’ walkup!
