Happy New Year Everyone!
Here’s my stab at trying to mix a bit of major, minor and arpeggios playing. I still have a lot of work to do on the vibratos and playing the changes but I love these challenges as they really help to cement what we’ve been watching.
Looking forward to watching you other submissions.
Ta for now.
Dermot.

Good job of putting your learnings into practice Dermot. I like the way you lean on the root note…something Brian stresses a lot. I could clearly hear the chord changes by your choice of notes. Nice job.

Thank you Ralph. That’s encouraging. I always feel once I press that record button my fingers start sticking to the fretboard. I can’t work out why? 😉

Nice use of the fretboard Dermot. You’ve got lyrical lines and your slides to the key A note keep your blues structured for sure. Well played. Happy New Year and all the best! 😎🎸😎

You have found a lot of fine sounding notes over this backing track, Dermot.
And these long slides, really impressive! I always have the problem to land on the right fret.
I wish you a happy new year with lots of guitar experiences!Take the chance to meet your AM friends on Zoom
The next Meetup is expected to take place in November 2025There will be a detailed announcement here in the forum in good time.
I look forward to meet you.

Dermot,
Nicely done. You are following the chord changes and mixing the pentatonics in fine fashion. With each pass you develop more confidence and it comes through. Keep up the work. Thanks for sharing.John

Well played, Deremot. I like how you chose one area at a time to concentrate on. I think that’s a great way to learn.

Love the B.B. style start to your sub Dermot. Nice melodic lines and then your repeated ideas, but changed them just a touch! Well done

Very nice, Dermot! Your focus and patience allowed you to explore the fretboard and, like you said, solidify everything you learned from Brian. Hanging on to the root note was a good choice, and I also heard a nice bend there!

Nice rendition Dermot. I like the slides into the note and how they fall exactly on the beat, what a great feel of rhythm. I heard some nice vibratos and bends in there too. Glad to see your submission.

Nice one Dermot, you definitely hit the right notes! By the look of it, it’s pretty cold where you are. Now’s a good time to pop over to New Zealand and get warm.
