I DID A VERSION OF THIS TWO OR THREE YEARS AGO, BUT I THOUGHT I COULD DO IT BETTER SO I RE-DID ALL THE LEAD PARTS AND FILLS. ONE OF MY FAVORITE CLAPTON SONGS, AND ONE OF MY FAVORITE CHORD PROGRESSIONS.

Really nice work Ralph! Beautiful solos with lots of Clapton coming thru. What program do you use to sub your playing?

Thanks Mike. I’d be happy to have any Clapton influence come through in my playing. I record with Ableton Live, and usually use my Line 6 Pod Go. I’ve had a few problems with Ableton, but I don’t feel like learning a new DAW.

Yeah very nice composition from Clapton.
Love the version he did on his acoustic album.
Very well done my friend.
Also curious to know what program you use.
Sorry to ask again but can you tell me why you don’t do videos.AndréM

Thank You Andre. I really like the Journeyman version of this because Robert Cray plays on it. Robert Cray co-wrote the song with Clapton, and the chord changes sound so much like Robert’s style. Clapton’s solo on Unplugged is amazing. I worked on it a long time, but never really got it down. Very tricky phrasing.
It probably seems alien to a lot of people, but I don’t even own and don’t want a cell phone, so I’m not into doing videos. Like Joe Walsh said “I’m an an analog guy in a digital world”. I learned how to play by listening. Don’t need any visuals to listen to music.

Right on Ralph! That was really good.

Oh Ralph, that was just a wonderful cacophony of sound. Marvelous playing 😎.. I just loved the way you weaved those separate parts together.
Very passionate, soulful playing.

Thank You Geoff. I love playing this song. There are so many directions you can take it. Clapton must love it too, because he always goes off on soloing during this song.

Beautifully played Ralph. Well put together as well. I saw the Journeyman Tour in Pittsburgh and fell in love with the album. I was hooked on this song for a long long time. It’s nice to revisit it. Your chops are Claptonesque but all your own. Great stuff.

Thank You Neighbor. I saw EC on the Journeyman Tour in Cleveland. He had Robert Cray opening for him, and I’m pretty sure he had Robert come out and play Old Love with him.
Still one of my favorite songs by EC, and Journeyman is one of my favorite albums.

Brilliantly played, Ralph! And a great effort, because playing so well those Clapton’s style solos and licks for a 6 minutes long rendition, it’s not easy at all: really a great performance for a beautiful rendition, very enjoyable to listen to!
