Chicago Blues at Home, Legendary Blues Artists in Informal Settings was made just in time, most of these musicians were still at the height of their powers (link to Discogs post of original 12-song release). It’s filled with recordings of artists like Eddie Taylor, Jimmy Rogers, John Littlejohn, Homesick James playing at home, solo or duo, mostly acoustic. Bob Myers is the eldest of the Myers brothers (Louis and Dave along with drummer Fred Below were The Aces).

Each video contains full recording details for that song.

Hi John, I’m glad to see you’re finding these and checking them out. It’s so cool hearing these people in small, sparse settings where you can hear exactly what one or two people are doing.

Hello Don, sorry to say that ive not been doing my homework of late, I could have said my dog ate it but ive not used that excuse since my school days..
Looks like i’ve a lot of catching up to do.
Thanks for taking the time to put together this great series.

Hi Billy, it’s good to see you! There are lots of reasons to not do our homework. I know you’re busy trying to keep up with the bills most of the time. Same here, this particular sound helps get me through all that. If it helps you too, that’s great!

If you’re catching up, I wonder if you saw the USA Records Blues Story post from about 4 days ago. It really blew me away when I first heard it.

                  Enjoy!

Ive only just come across your post from 4 days ago Don, Seems the more free time ive had during this lockdown period the less i seem to get things done, though i have been playing more guitar for a change, hopefully i’ll get to do anothrr showcase in the coming week or so even though i am back to work on monday( hopefully).

Hey Billy, I think your own playing is the thing to focus on if you have limited time, that’s where you’ll get the satisfaction. I look forward to hearing your showcase.

Here’s another playlist, a chronological listing of “Night Train” (1951), the songs that influenced it and the songs that come from it—a pretty cool song. No pressure to check it out, I put the playlist together because I’m playing it in Bb, and I wanted to see if I could find some stuff to expand on what I’m playing.

I started answering you right away and the phone rang—then I forgot what I was doing. Be careful going back to work!

My pleasure, John and Billy! Thanks for letting me know you’re listening! If you have any thoughts on any of the songs, I’d like to hear about it.
