I hesitated a bit to post this song, which is a personal small project, because I am always afraid to wear out the forum welcome even when I post some covers.
But eventually I chose to post it ‘cause for sure it’s something related in many ways to AM. When I joined AM less or more 5 years ago, I absolutely would not have been able to put together a whole little production like this: starting from playing some soloing parts, and then the mixing and video abilities. Something I learned through the journey in AM, and thanks to the advice and examples of others members, which pushed me to learn a lot of new things. This is the real first song I composed in my life, at least at the 50% because the lyrics are by Lorenzo De’ Medici (1449 – 1492). Lorenzo, called “Il Magnifico” – The Magnificent –ruled the Florentine Republic (Signore di Firenze – “Lord of Florence”) from 1469 till his death. He was a patron of arts and a poet himself and the poem “The song of Bacchus”, also known under the title of “The Triumph of Bacchus and Ariadne”, belongs to a collection of poems called Canti Carnascialeschi (Carnival songs).
I also wanted to experiment the whole copyright and publishing work, that I realized through SoundReef (for free) and TuneCore (it requires a small payment for 1 year): believe me, I don’t’ think I will ever earn even 1 cent from this song, or I will become a real songwriter, and I don’t intend in any way to promote my little song but only share it with my friends: It’s just a 1 shot experiment because I was curious to understand a bit the whole mechanism.
The song is musically very basic, essentially a verse and a very simple instrumental bridge, but it lasts more than 4 minutes because the poem is quite long.
I also experimented for the first time with some AI videos, just for fun.If you select the English (UK) subtitles in YouTube, I uploaded the translation in poem written by the English poet John Addington Symonds (1840 – 1893), which I think is a very good one.
If you’ll listen to it and watch, hope you’ll enjoy.

Wow Guido Bravo! 🙌🙌 . That was a brilliant performance.
The video editing was superb and I thoroughly enjoyed the song in spite of not understanding Italian. Loved that you brought out a classical guitar for this and the accompaniment from that was great. Wonderful electric guitar lead too.
Cannot say enough good things about this and I will listen again.

Thanks Geoff, glad you appreciated my song! If you select English (UK) subtitles in the YouTube video, you can have a good translation in a poetic language by a 19th century English poet.

Well, I have returned to just that and “Aaahh Youth is Fleeting and short” – don’t I know that all too well.
Got to say again that this video has been a real treat Guido and I have watched it multiple times enjoying every minute of it. The sound of your Gretsch semi-solid is simply gorgeous – my favorite style of electric guitar.
There are so many cool little details in that video, I can only imagine how many hours of thought and attention you must have put into this – thanks for this one 🙂

Thanks for your appreciation mon ami! Well, advanced in AI is a big word , just my first and probably also last experiments with some web tools, just for fun (I personally liked the Lorenzo’s portrait singing and the old Silenus) and to see what can come out 😅!

Hey Guido. Came back for a second look and listen. Just think, transport yourself back 5 years and ask yourself if you could produce a piece like this in the future! You probably would have said, ‘No way!’ Wow, you’ve come a long, long way! Excellent all round effort and performance. 👏👏👏🌟👏👏👏 All the best! 😎🎸😎

Thanks Garry for your appreciation in YouTube and here in the forum! Yes, 5 years ago maybe I could have composed the chord progression and the singing melody, just strummed the chords and sung along, but not produce/play/mix all the other parts and the video for sure!

That was brilliant Guido.
Super playing on the main acoustic riff and a very well put together composition.
The video you put together was really impressive. I can only imagine how much work you put into that.
I especially liked the statue lip syncing your singing – very cool indeed!
Loved it.

Great production, Guido. The music and video both are outstanding. What creativity to put this together. Loved your staccato picking on the classical guitar as well as the power chords on the electric. Great job on the vocals too. 🎶 👏

Guido, never hesitate to post your covers or originals, it’s all part of your journey and we’re all here to support your contributions..
That was wonderful, the full entertaining package.
Hey, who was that shredding on the nylon string? I’ve always been impressed with your acoustic rhythm but your lead playing really stood out here. Your vocals were terrific also.

Wow Guido, that blows my mind. You have created a real masterpiece. Everything is really right here: the catchy melody, the perfect vocals, the instruments used, the lively mood, the organic combination of classic and modern, the brilliant video, the imaginative ideas, the surprising technique …. One can feel your love for this music and the tremendous amount of work that went into it. In short, the song has everything it takes to be a hit. Congratulations and best wishes for success.

Dear Guido!!!!I’m lost for words to comment on this WONDERFUL performance on so many levels!!!!How proud of yourself you must be feeling!!!and I’m also proud of myself for being an AM friend with you💞💗❣️💖💕I have already watched it 3 times focusing each time on different aspects!First of all Bacchus is our ancient God,Dionysos,so the topic of the song is all the more meaningful to me💗❣️💖Your voice is invariably deep and soulful and your classical and electric guitar playing fit seamlessly your composition! What an imaginative way to combine these styles together ❤️ As bout the video arrangement, well ,what can I say?you should see the big grin on my face!!!!I’ll show it to my brother tonight!!!!
BRAVO caro Guido!!!!-

Thank you very much for your wonderful comment Helen! Yes, the poem of Lorenzo De’ Medici is very much related to the Greek mythology, that in some way was copied and fused with their own traditions and mythology by the Romans back in the days: as you pointed out very well, among many others, the Roman Bacchus figure clearly comes from the Greek Dionysos.
Very glad and flattered that you loved my song, my friend!Guido
