Wow, 500 lessons! That is quite a milestone. When I first joined AM, I only knew the basic cowboy chords, and nothing whatsoever about electric guitars. 7 years later, I consider myself to be a fairly accomplished guitarist, and it’s 99% thanks to you, Brian. I have learned maybe half of the 500 lessons, and forgotten all but about 50 or so which have become my “permanent repertoire”. Your idea of having people learn while having fun at the same time worked like a charm for me. AM is a big part of my life, and everyone I know is well aware of that.
I had intended to post a video note, but it’s summer holidays and I am once again on our farm, which is in a fairly remote part of rural New Zealand, where internet access is limited. But I can upload a photo, and I, my wife, and Zoe the Cat give you a huge thanks for all you have done!

Thank you Brian for all of your great affordable guitar lessons on Active Melody and Congrats on EP500! I have been a member since April 2019 and have completed around 100 lessons.
I joined the AM Challenges about a year after becoming a member and have completed 30. That was a genius idea and a great way to make rubber hit the road with respect to your lessons.

Thankyou Brian for your commitment in providing a platform and providing 500 weekly lessons. A source of content perpetually available to access now and for future players. To think you never gave a one on one guitar lesson before Active Melody, and now have a world wide classroom of students. Amazing what you have achieved for yourself and what others have achieved through your tuition. So glad my nylon string did not remain part of the living room decor and that I found Active Melody in 2017. Signed up for free membership for a year and enjoyed watching what you could play on the guitar but never thought to play it. Took the plunge for Premium Membership 2018 and learnt only one lesson (ep099) that year, it was a chore, but I was hooked on watching all the lessons and loved the theory of what can be done with 6 strings and 12 frets. The coordination finally clicked in late 2019 and 30 monthly submissions later… I might be a tortoise but I feel like a have won the race with Active Melody in my life. Thanks again Brian for the inspiration and encouragement you provide.

Since you bought a ukulele in Hawaii, is it possible to do a “short” on you playing it for fun?The melody of the notes is what expresses the art of music . 🙂 6stringerPete
It really is all about ”melody”. The melody comes from a language from our heart. Our heart is the muscle in music harmony. The melody is the sweetness that it pumps into our musical thoughts on the fretboard. 🙂 6 stringer Pete

Hi Brian,
Replying with some difficulty from my hospital bed!
I found AM after long involvement with classical guitar and I so wanted to increase what I could do on electric guitar 🎸. Your insightful instruction on varied styles and example of high musicianship were just great and I have so enjoyed being part of this family that you’ve created.
