This time, my motto is: “Beatles Blues Festival.” (If I’m not mistaken, these were the only blues songs by the Beatles)

Yer Blues was written by John Lennon during his trip to India and against the backdrop of his “switch” from his wife to the freaky Yoko Ono.
Technically, it’s not difficult to play, but the challenge lies in the unconventional rhythm changes, the wild solos, and the interplay between the guitars and bass.

As a “bonus,” I’ve added “For You Blue,” which George Harrison came up with after a heated marital dispute. I recorded the song 15 years ago with my former Beatles cover band Imagine during a rehearsal evening. It’s in open D tuning, and my part was the resonator guitar with bottleneck.

Wow Dieter this is wild! First time listening to the first track. After selling all my albums years ago I’ve only bought a few in the last 5 years and one I have is ‘Let it Be’ which of course ‘For You Blue’ is on. Great guitar work from yourself, I appreciate your support keeping the Beatles ‘alive’ on the site. All the best! 😎🎸😎

Very nicely done Dieter. Excellent resonator.

Well done, Dieter. My brother saw the Beatles at the 1965 Shea Stadium concert. Emphasis on the word “saw” because he couldn’t hear them over all the screaming.

I know a lot of the Beatles songs because their music was played everywhere but I never actively followed their music. Needless to say, this song is unknown to me but, it seems clear to me that John Lennon was straying into new territory with this one.

Great playing and performance from you on this one Dieter 👏 👍

I too I didn’t know this song, which is a very good old blues style and a surprise in the Beatles’ catalogue. Excellent rendition, all the parts brilliantly played! Loved also your old cover band recording of the George’s song, great slide playing!
