Hi All
Here’s my contribution to this months Challenge.American Standard Tele, Reaper DAW, Amplitube software amp. I created the backing track in midi using a couple of synthesizers and a midi keyboard. Thunder and rain via the internet. Sorry it’s a bit long.

Very lovely composition, Martyn! It reminds me a lot of some Pink Floyd’s musical landscape compositions, melancholic, brilliant and soulful! Very well crafted and played!

I was listening to this and was so entranced it was over before I knew it. Very good indeed.

Martyn, I love this. Soooo atmospheric – like from a Tarantino movie or a mid-70’s Floyd track. I liked tour phrasing, & sense of timing very much – very well done.

Martyn, you created a great mood for a rainy afternoon. This one could have been a movie soundtrack at the cinema. Lots of possibilities!

Kinda ominous in a pleasing way. That constant background growl/whistle is strangely appealing and a great backdrop for your moody musings.

A great feel of space and atmosphere. As others have said, very Floyd-ish, in a good way!

Haha, when I heard that rain at the beginning, I thought it was outside my house, because it was supposed to here rain today. But you did a great job on this emotional minimalist composition. Really well played, Martyn!

Hey Martin,
What a fantastic atmosphere you’ve created.
Bit of brothers in arms/Pink Floyd vibe going on.
This is what this challenge has been waiting for!
Top shelf sir I loved it.

Yep, definitely Pink Floyd-ish! A beautiful musical landscape creation with long drone-like notes underneath and very engaging solo notes creating the story. Love the ambient sounds and the beautiful tone, masterworks!

Your passion for guitar shines through. Your arrangement is forboding and mystifying. Your lead play is tasty and complimented the rhythm nicely. Thank you for sharing.John

Hi Martyn:
Your music evokes strong images, and your use of sound effects and guitar “dialogue” tells a meaningful story. I especially enjoyed your musical phrasing. And it was important to listen to the end to hear how the story end. Very effective how you returned to your opening theme “and then came the rain”. A great work!Cheers, Tom

Yep I agree with the other comments it has a very atmospheric pink Floyd flavour ,the fact that you didn’t overplay things make the story stand out , love that droning rhythm has a very powerful sound .

Brilliant sonic landscape you built there Martyn, and yes, as others have mentioned a very pink floydy vibe which is a big tick for me. You kept it very sparse which added to the mood and tension. I was listening to this in the garden, with the sun shining, but I swear I could ‘feel’ the rain when it returned at the end.

Brilliant Martyn, sounded like the opening sequence to a ‘dark film’ with impending danger just around the corner to which the background drone helped enormously. Great performance.

You’ve created such a suspendend, mysterious, rainy atmosphere Martyn, awesome!
