Happy New year to you too..
You are getting right into this guitaring lark with a feavoured passion Rich, quite a feat doing the backing and lead, only the singing to add to the mix now.
            Well done man.

            ..Billy..

Happy New Year to you also Rich.
Full marks for concentration but that wasn’t an easy piece to get stuck into. You were constantly reading the Tab/Notation and I felt it distracted you from your performance. I would respectfully suggest that you learn the solo by heart, perhaps doing it a few bars at a time and then string them together when you’ve got them under your fingers so to speak. Once the notes are memorized you can then apply your skills to smoothing out the runs, timing, slides, pull-offs etc. With the amount of work you’ve already done, your finished piece will take on a new life and you’ll get goose-bumps next time you play it.

              All the best Rich

Rich really cool getting into u2 music.. you keep at it and have fun! try getting the tempo and feel for anything you practice be it cover tunes or Brian’s /anybody’s lessons.. the thing so cool here at Brian’s site is getting the count/tempo practice using the soundslice featured here and much specific counseling for tunes luke this etc.. so many awesome lessons can and will help you get most anything you want to play on guitar,,many different genres here all connect but tempo is very important and not easy for me and most so..keep this in mind and also keep developing on cool u2 tune!

Hi Billy, Hi Richard, Hi John,

Many thanks for listening to my piece, and thanks for your comments and feedback.

I will keep on working on this song. Maybe even add some vocals, if I feel brave!

Richard: good suggestion on learning the solo by heart. The interesting thing is that I created my own tab for this, so I should be able to learn it by heart soon! I tabbed the chords from an online lesson, and then worked out the Melody note by note on a separate tab. (I enjoy trying to work out melodies of songs note by note).

I attach my handwritten chord and melody tabs, in case anyone finds them useful.

                  Cheers,

                  Rich F
