Hi AMers!
Have used this months challenge as another opportunity to try slide which is part of my January to July challenge. I definitely find it useful to find notes by ear rather than thinking of Penta patterns and I don’t seem to be as worried about whether it’s minor or major…just slide to where it seems to sound good! Anyway that’s my 12th challenge so hoping to model the t shirt in a future video! I used EP 355 for this. Looking forward to listening and learning from others.

Slide was also my Jan to July challenge and I need to get practicing. Good idea to use the challenges in the meantime to perfect it. Sounds good!

Hey Tim:
Your slide perspective on note targeting made me smile. And your playing reinforced your approach of finding the good sounding notes. All of your playing is marked by solid guitar technique and a really good ear. Congrats on 12 challenges. I recently hit that too and need to pursue the coveted AM shirt.
Cheers, Tom

Seems the slide fever has gripped you, Tim. You produce some fine melody lines with your playing. It sounds dreamy and sophisticated. So well done! Seems we go together for the TeeShirt this month. Congrats!

Nice one, Tim. I hadn’t thought about it, but I can see how a slide and the pentatonic boxes might not mesh very well. In that case, you just have to get the sound of the major/minor mix in your head and go for it. What I heard was you staying almost entirely in the major scale, with maybe the odd few minor pent notes thrown in. So, all good.

Well done Tim,
That was pretty flawless and seamless. You had to be paying attention to the chords b/c you fell on all the right notes. Nicely done.John

Congrats to your 12th submission!👏🎸
Your slide melody sounds great, and goes well with the jam track.
I just love to listen to slide guitar (and pedal steel) playing…one day I might give it a try, too.

Beautiful slide playing, Tim! It sounded like something George Harrison would do and your ear guided your well into the right notes. I would just add some vibrato to the long notes, it’s quite easy to do on the slide. Looking forward to your July presentation, I’m sure it will be awesome 🙂

Impressive how you work consistently on your goal for July, Tim. Your improvement is obvious. (I did not play my July project once since January, which makes me a little worried …).
Well done! 👍🏽Bluesige Grüße

Your getting a really nice smooth slide tone with a fine touch Tim, so the work is paying off. And your ear is working well too as that was very soulful and melodic. I don’t know about you but I found that my brain seems to become scrambled about where the notes live when I put a slide on my finger and I have to relearn how to think about the fretboard. In my case, long term challenge, I’m trying to master the shapes in Open G but I think its more because with slide lends itself playing more notes on a single string.

Tim,
Nice job with the slide, and winging it with the scales. I have yet to get coordinated with a slide. Like that Washburn, too, they make nice guitars.Bruce
Just focus on the notes you DID get right . . . Frank Vignola
