Greetings, AM’ers. I couldn’t believe how long it’s been since I did one of these challenges! But then again, it wasn’t hard to figure out why. When I started at AM, I had much more free time, and I wanted to dedicate that time to improving my skill at what had been an on-again, off-again hobby. On the only rubric that matters — mine — I think it’s been a success, although the journey of discovery is never-ending.
That said, aside from Bruce Springsteen shows, there’s almost always an intermission, and the situation on the ground suggests it’s time to take mine. With some sadness, this will probably be my last post for a while. After this weekend, I will be pausing my AM account. Nothing is permanent, and I may see you again sooner than imagined.
I will miss this community greatly. Thank you for all the support and inspiration you’ve provided over the past few years.
For you tone hounds, this was recorded through a mic’ed Princeton Reverb FSR Chilewich. The guitar is an Eastman T484. The only pedal I had on was a Kingsley Page. I added reverb and a small amount of stereo delay post-recording.

That was a cracker, Conor. It’s a shame that you present a piece like that as your last post – still they always say leave ’em wanting more. Hope you do manage to get back.

Wow Conor, just what the track called for. Loved that descending harmony towards the end.
Eastman makes some fantastic instruments, I have two now and eye the double cutaways often.
Great tone, can’t go wrong with the Princeton. Tesky Brothers too…man, don’t go! -

We’ll miss that kind of sweet playing. All the best on the continuing journey.

That’s such a beautiful way to say goodbye, Conor. On the other hand, I could hear more of this in the future. But I’m sure you know how to get back. I wish you a good time and continue to celebrate music.
Take the chance to meet your AM friends on Zoom
The next Meetup will probably take place in the second half of AugustThere will be a detailed announcement here in the forum in good time.
I look forward to meet you.

Hi Conor, beautiful lead with a really melodic take on this track. I enjoyed it!
I’m not certain, but I think you can still access the forum even if you’re not a premium member at AM. So, drop by now and then. All the best to you! -

Sorry you won’t be giving the rest of us a chance to hear your inspiring work, but this entry certainly didn’t short-change us.
You took the tender approach which the track demanded but still gave it a nice strong edge — a good combination of two vibes.

Conor,
Nice submission! Stick around man. You can’t beat the price for what you get here at AM and you can participate as time permits. Cheers. Pap

Nicely played, Conor. Sounds like a bit of overdrive, which is a nice addition. I think many of us older AM members have been in the same situation as you, where life demands that you take a break from fun stuff like music. But don’t worry, when you retire you can go out and buy some new guitars and amps and get right back into it again. You won’t be able to join Active Melody, because Brian will be an old man by then, no longer able to keep it going. But here’s an idea: You could start some new online guitar lessons yourself to supplement your retirement income.

Sorry to hear you’re leaving us but life demands we take different roads at times and we’ve all been in similar situations where our time is needed elsewhere.
You’ve left us with a top quality piece. Very well constructed lead that complements the piano part and I’m loving that tone you dialled in 👍 -

Beautifully played so melodic and warm sounding , which goes hand in hand with the track .
Love the slight break up in tone , that Eastman sounds great , I’ve been eyeing up one of those semi- hollows.
All the best .Martin

What a bittersweet event, Conor – happy to see you join us for this challenge and yet you are leaving …☹️
Your composition was beautiful and your playing stroke me as very clean (I tend to create a lot of unwanted noise with an electric guitar so I know that’s a skill!). Loved the slides, fitting in so perfectly… Everything was simply delightful.
As for the life taking over, you’re still ahead of most of us when it comes to stumbling upon something like Active Melody at such a young age. You can always come back when you’ve retired and your kids are grown 😉

Nicely played! I love the Kingsley pedals too.

What a beautiful goodbye composition Conor! Wish you all the best and possibly to get back one day with other great submissions!
If I wasn't making mistakes I wouldn't be the kind of player I want to be. Perfection is dangerous.
It's all about taking risks, sometimes you get to some place, sometimes you get to a different place. (Brian May) -
