Having gone through a house move, drastic down-sizing and a period of adjustment together with organising a lot of unexpected extra work on the house, I haven’t submitted a challenge response since May. In fact I’ve hardly played since then. The challenge for November was to play any Christmassy song. As I’ll be on holiday in Madeira on the submission date I thought I’d run this one past you. It’s a parody of ‘The Christmas Song’ by Mel Torme and recorded by many others. For the record, I love this time of year – the lyrics don’t express my views – they are meant to reflect those of someone worn out by the process, with a hint of Scrooge. My partner thought that some listeners might be offended by some bits – I hope she’s wrong – the intention is to bring a smile to the face. I recorded this video in 2022 for use on another website – hence the reference to ‘the new king’.
Here’s the link
I wish you all a Happy and Peaceful Christmas

It definitely brought a smile to my face Mike. 😎 I haven’t heard this before but it’s absolutely a ‘Christmas Cracker!’ (Crackup!) 😉 Loved the lyrics and didn’t offend me. You delivered the song well, both vocally and with guitar. All the best and Merry Christmas to you and your family. 😎🎸😎

I enjoyed your mellow, laid-back, satiric delivery, Mike. I laughed all the way through this. Your guitar work is impressive and your gentle vocals are perfect for this parody. Best of the holiday season to you and yours.

I never heard this song before but I thought it was hysterical. Merry Christmas and Happy New Year Mike! 🎅

Hi Mike, great to see you’re still checking in. Very funny song! Now, what did that elf have in mind?
This definitely qualifies for this month’s challenge. Looking forward to more playing from you. -

That was a bunch of fun Mike. I’m a big fan of Christmas but I recognise many of those references 🤣
