Alan Haynes – blues guitarist from Austin, Texas

Alan Haynes has been playing professionally since the 1970s and has performed with a variety of Blues legends that include Stevie Ray Vaughan, Johnny Winter, Albert Collins, Albert King, Robert Cray, Bonnie Raitt, John Lee Hooker, and Otis Rush among others.
A “component of his playing is his heavy and masterful use of his fingers to play (instead of a pick, which he also uses) and several pickup switches while playing licks and chords that allows him to achieve different sounds” (from Wikipedia). Carolyn Wonderlands technique of playing is similar.

Hey Dori

Great post. I hadn’t heard of Alan before; it nice to see a player from Austin that isn’t trying to clone SRV. Alan has some overtones of Stevie but he has very much found his own voice on the instrument
