        Hi all
I am thinking to join Active Melodies. I saw many posts asking where to start but, most of them, where from a beginner point of view. Instead, I would like to ask to all you older members, apart from the two courses, which are the “basic” lessons to start learning from Brian? So, I am not looking for easier o beginner lessons, but which one give you the foundation to start working on the site? I know I can start looking at all lessons and choose what I like or what I think is the best one, but it is nice to know from experienced members which lessons are the springboard to Brian Method.

Thanks a lot in advance and greeting from London, UK.

          Hey cm, welcome to AM!

I’m not sure, for the weekly lessons you have categories, maybe you can start on the Beginner category:

          Guitar Lesson Categories

But, I would suggest you just choose a video from a category that you like and go with it. Sometimes Brian mentions related lessons. But I’d say there is not a linear path to follow, you can start wherever you like.

Welcome CM! Here’s a handful of lessons (link will take you to another post) some of us thought people might like to try to start with. After you’ve been here a while, I hope you’ll add your suggestions. Some of these easier ones are really fun.

I think you ought to sign up. You get a lot of extras that make learning easier, like the video tablature with variable speeds, repeat; regular tab; backing tracks, and they’re the most reasonably priced lessons I know about, whether you get them by the month or the year. Let us know if you have any other questions!

              Hi cm from London,

You can start with any lesson, just pick what you like and what appeals to you. You’d be surprised how much you can learn from just one lesson. Brian repeats the same concepts in many lessons so eventually you will start to understand more and more of what he’s talking about and how it all works. In the meantime you will have fun and learn some cool tunes to impress your friends and family. But that’s if you have access to all the “goodies” as a premium member. It’s sooooooooo worth it, you just can’t beat this deal.
              Good luck 🙂

I’m one of the oldest surviving members, so I’m probably qualified to discuss your question. Brian just uploaded a video on his Facebook page asking the question “What do you do when someone asks you to play something on your guitar?”.

                Here’s the Youtube link: https://youtu.be/LrwiVbBQvLE

So I’m asking you, what would you play if visitors dropped by your house and asked you to play something? Do you have one or two songs that you can just play anytime anywhere? If not, I would choose one good lesson from Brian’s collection and learn to play it flawlessly while you are being scrutinized by an audience. For me, it was EP065. Very simple to play, can be expanded on by merging it with EP066 and even EP037. You can kill two birds with one stone: (1) stay home and practice, and (2) avoid catching Covid19.
