I’ve been a great fan of Rainer Brunn for some while now, his skills as a fingerstyle blues/ragtime player and singer are renown. This first clip shows him playing St James Infirmary and the second clip is him playing with Willie Salomon in their performance of Special Agent.

Rainer Brunn has many solo YouTube clips concentrating on traditional blues and ragtime pieces from the Blind Blake, Skip James and Willie Brown era.
        I hope you enjoy …..

Richard, thanks for presenting him. Rainer Brunn is absolutely great. I can’t say I’ve spent enough time listening, but when I have, the music was just beautiful. I’ve never heard him play with anyone (I’m listening to something else as I type this, but I will be sure to check this out).

Thanks for posting Richard. I’m a big fan of miked acoustic performances. Interesting how the second room gives a softer sound than the smaller room with the tile behind the stove.
I shall have to check out some of his ragtime pieces. I tried to learn some of that stuff from Stephan Grossman, but it exceeded my ability. He’s sounds great.

You may be correct Dieter, but I’ve been listening to this genre since my early twenties.

Thanks for posting these Richard. I wasn’t aware of Rainer Brunn but his style and arrangements are super and right up my alley. I noticed on his Facebook page he says to PM him for tabs or lessons. Have you gotten any of these? I’m definitely interested!

                      James

                        Hi James,
No, I haven’t requested any of his tabs but if the offer is there etc. You can pick up most of what Rainer is playing just by watching him but maybe the trickier bits could do with clarification.
The real difficult part of playing the ragtime guitar styles is the speed and that brilliant syncopation which we know is the essence of ‘ragged time’
                        Glad you enjoyed it James.
