Brian, I think almost any premium member will tell you Active Melody is the best value on the internet. You can supplement with YouTube lessons or other paid venues as needed but this is a great home base for your learning.

To all on the fence,
Not much to add to all the relevant comments previously, I’m beginning my third year with Brian and even though I arrived with a lot of active playing in band experience, I wanted to deepen my blues knowledge and not simply learn popular songs. Each week “the Library” @stratplus66 (nice Andrew) expands with stand alone, whole pieces that you can learn and play as part of your repertoire for family, friends or the porch. My own playing has taken several steps forward, the cost is trivial compared to other methods that produce less, and the community is simply awesome; receptive, supportive and tolerant of learning…..
Take the plunge……you wont regret it….

What did you get from it back then?, Was this before the monthly challenges became part of the forum?.

I just joined a few days ago, took the year’s subscription — I’ve spent much more than that on books in the past. I’ve always been a bit skeptical about internet-based instruction, but here are a couple of points that helped me decide:
1. Brian’s the ONLY teacher. Keep it simple!
2. The Netflix-style subscription plan: I like being able to work as fast or as slow as I like, with no restrictions.
3. The heavy focus on da Blues (because that’s what I’m interested in).
4. The focus on the riffs, patterns and other tools, rather than on existing songs.
5. Brian’s No Muss, No Fuss teaching style — no long-winded chitchat, no fumbling around, the videos are editing to get you through the material quickly.
6. Tab and backing tracks for nearly every lesson. And the more recent lessons have scrolling tab.Anyway, for $10 for a month, you can give it a try.

Brian. I have been about since about 2010. As I remember, it was utube lessons and the forum in those days. I bought the blues course and Hendrix coarse when they came out as downloads. A lot has changed since those days. I use other sites (and there are some good ones out there) but most of what I have learnt has come from here. If you are going to learn guitar from the internet you will need an unmovable determination. There will be days, weeks even months when you feel you are going backwards, and that happens to most of us. If you can keep pushing forward, then with the material available on this site you can’t really go wrong. Good luck.

Well worthwhile. Agree with the comments above.
$10 gives it a try.
Good luck. -

OK, so I’ve been a member for twelve hours now. My left arm is about to fall off, so I’ve put the guitar down for the night. I took a leap of faith and bought the yearly subscription. By a conservative estimate it has already paid for itself; and I mean that in terms of content, not in terms of how often I picked the guitar up in the last twelve hours. Only wish I’d joined sooner. I’m very much a beginner though, with only a few open and barre chords, so take what I’ve said with that in mind.

I’m a new premium member – I only joined because I was looking for a stand-alone solo for ‘Key to the Highway’ for a blues camp I was attending. To me, $10 a month for just that was worth it. Let’s face it, a lot of us spend way more on coffee in a month.
Since then, I’ve gotten hooked on Brian’s ‘Blues Lead Guitar’ course. For some reason, the way it is presented syncs with me and I’ve had several ‘whoa!’ moments when something just clicked. I think my premium subscription has already more than paid for itself.
If you are on the fence I suggest that you give it a try.
