September 23, 2016 at 12:32 pm #51377Here’s my EP 131 challenge response coming in at 1:31s….strange but true. I previously posted a Soundcloud version of Can’t Find My Way Home using EP 131 licks but here’s a video version. Hope you enjoy.

September 23, 2016 at 12:54 pm #51382Another drop D’er! That makes three I’ve noticed so far. Very well executed, you were relaxed and handled the piece with ease, John. This is my first time participating and it’s fun to hear others play the same piece you’ve been working on because you notice the small things – I really liked how you went to the low open D string at the end of the third lick (in your first rendition). That set a really full and rich tone for the piece. Also, congrats on having it be 1:31, quite the accomplishment. If Bryce goes back to an older one, say EP004 or something, you’re going to have to really speed up the tempo to keep the streak alive. Might be tough. 🙂

September 23, 2016 at 1:00 pm #51385Hey John, What can I say….you do man!! That was professional caliber start to finish…Pure gold! Marty PS…gotta try that drop D thing out….

September 23, 2016 at 1:18 pm #51392Smooth as can be, John. Absolutely brilliant. I have to admit I was kind of waiting for a mistake to happen. Not because I wanted that, but because I thought it’s nearly impossible to keep that tempo without hitting a wrong note here and there. Boy, was I wrong! Not even a fret buzz!!! Also cool to tune the E-string down to D (first time for me to see it). Respect!

September 23, 2016 at 1:42 pm #51401Hey John great posts and glad to see Charo Unplugged with a viewing of your acoustic beauties!
Both pieces sounded fantastic and you have real musical skills and also showcased some dexterity on that fretboard; great, great, great. I’m picking up great tips on every post this month and can’t believe the skill levels of AM members; we must have a quite proficient teacher and mentor
Now keep of soundcloud as we do like to see your music room and guitars, think of your viewers lol!
 Cheers Bri

September 23, 2016 at 5:45 pm #51478Part 1. You knocked this out of the park! The playing was fantastic (including that original Introduction) and the tones on that guitar are awesome. I dub this guitar the Enforcer. (And the video quality wasn’t shabby either.) Part 2. Fantastic as well!!! I could hear Steve Winwood singing in the background. I remember buying this album when it came out. Funny how this song by Brian reminded you of Can’t Find My Way Home, and me of Bluebird. Very professional, like Marty said. Larry

September 23, 2016 at 6:03 pm #51485Great playing John! EP131 is solid, I don’t believe I ever saw your Can’t find my way Home? Perhaps before my time here? Like Larry I kept anticipating vocals to break in.
 Both very nicely done.

September 24, 2016 at 7:58 am #51604Super cool, very clean and clearly played. I like it very much esp. “Cant find my way home”. You got high creativity and your guitars sound heavenly. Thank you Charjo!

September 25, 2016 at 1:22 am #51742Nicely done John. Clean and expressive, as usual. I liked your intfo a lot, especially the last rake up on the D minor chord. I am not a fan of the major ending. This was done a lot in Baroque and Classical music, ending a minor key song with the tonic major, and it always sounds corny to me. Tone of your guitar is sweet. It’s a Taylor?

September 25, 2016 at 1:40 pm #51793John, What more can I add? A real pleasure to listen to, I liked the intro on the first one and the upstroke before you started the tune proper. Your guitars are so shiny!

September 26, 2016 at 3:33 pm #51935haha that was cool.. love it stuff like that comes together, (1:31s).. What is that guitar? Has a very nice bottom tone to it.. Don't practice till you get it right, practice till you can't get it wrong.

September 26, 2016 at 10:20 pm #51993Charjo, you always do great stuff. I missed your original posting of Cant’ Find My Way Home, but those licks fit perfectly – very clever. It’s interesting to see some folks linking this to Midnight Rider and now Can’t Find My Way Home. I’m sure it was inspired by both as I love both of those songs. Thanks for sharing – this was great!

September 27, 2016 at 8:40 am #52019@Bryce-akguitar, @TaylorL, @Martin G, @Tremelow, @bri-uklefty, @Wblues, @Gary W, @Midas, @bluesguitarlvr, @sciencefiction, @kubrider, @ranja, @Scott M, @Patrick van Rijn, @Lights, @Duffy P, @sunburst,@Debra,@Chris T, @smilefred, thanks for the kind words and encouragement. @BluGenes, that was my Taylor 816ce, 2012 version I think. The mahogany was my latest, a Taylor 522ce 12 fret. I played from the guitars directly into my input device and had the bass setting, on the guitar’s equalizer, at only about 50%. @Brian, thanks for watching and commenting. I’m sure everybody appreciates it.

September 27, 2016 at 9:04 am #52020Simply perfect JOhn! Loved it and set you as a backing track while I’m studying for my thesis…… The tone is amazing, I usually dont like amped acoustics, what did you use? Congrats! Roberto PS, sorry I just saw the last post with your recording info….awesome. Roberto
-
September 27, 2016 at 9:16 am #52023@Maradonagol, thanks Roberto. Not amped, just played from the guitar’s electronics directly into the software with a little reverb and compression. Although I did try both guitars through the THR10C and they sounded pretty good. I just bought a condenser mike so I’ll give that a shot soon, too.
