Any tricks how to stop my low E string vibrating when I slap it?
Neil.
stop slappin it? lol
Can you explain, do you mean sounding when you don’t want it to? I’d guess slow practice with gradually speeding up the pace.
Neil – what song do you learn? link may help to understand. I guess you are practising some specific part of it? 🙂

Now that right there reminds me of boot camp lol….
LOL….you blokes are funny
no what I mean is when I strike a power chord it vibrates afterwards and sounds terrible, sometimes because it leaves the fret board lol, just a case of practice practice practice I know lol
it’s likely I just don’t have a good enough grip on it.

Most of the time, I will let my thumb rest against the sixth string and dampen it or let my ring finger slide over just enough to kill the sound.
Like you said – just a case of practice, practice practice. When you run into these issues, look for the obvious of what would be easiest way to correct it. You may come up unorthodox ways of correcting them but if they work for you, O well. As long as what you come up with isn’t a bad technique that will hinder you in other ways, go for it!
