Hello everyone,
My first thought was to go with a slow blues. Always a lot of emotions in that kind of style.
But I decided to go the opposite.
The emotion I’m going for is excitement. Have you ever walked into a nightclub or small venue, the band on stage, sounding great, and the place is packed. Your heart is pumping your pulse is racing the band is hot, the beer is cold, the prettiest girl in the room is on your arm. This is going to be a great night. I don’t know about you but I’m excited.
Ep178 Santana
Wanted to get this under my fingers for sometime now. To be honest I wish I had an other week to work with it. Bars 13 through 20 are a booger.
As always thanks for listening.

Yeah, Santana, I’m thrilled. Your playing is spot on, and the lively rhythm is better than ever. Maybe your best track yet. I really like it a lot. Awesome!!!
Thanks a lot, Werner

Great submission – especially loved the parts (example 0:53 – 0:59) where you had double stops following the rhythm, then play a nice fill lick and did the double stops again. Great catchy moments!

Lot’s of tough parts in this piece with the tremolo being the most prominent. Hat’s off for jumping over such a high bar. This is the whole point of these challenges.
Root note patterns >>> CAGED shapes >>> TRIAD'S. Just put in the work and watch your guitar skills soar.

Good for you, you picked a very challenging EP. I recorded it years ago and know exactly how tough that is. Great energy and loved your tremolo picking.

I’d say you got this under your fingers for sure. I like the Saturday night you depict with the cold beer, girl and rippin’ music. Thanks for sharing.John

Nothing conjures up that feel-good mood quite like a Latin American rhythm, it practically guarantees a great night out. 😄. You nailed both the Santana tone and his smokin’ playing. That’s a tough lesson too. I remember trying that and giving up!
