Travis Picking. Something I’ve been working on but am not totally comfortable with. I find I get in a groove with the basic pattern but when it’s time to change to banjo rolls or another sort of pattern it throws me. I also find it hard to keep a consistent tempo and speed up as I go.
And also my picking forearm start to ache after about a minute. Don’t think I’ll ever get it up to performance tempo/standards. But it’s fun.
Here’s a one take with plenty of warts!
Cannonball Rag.
Hi Bill, really excellent. That’s not easy, but you’ve got it coming along nicely. That song will be a showpiece when it smooths out over the full length of it. Guitar playing is so varied… I keep a full practice routine and haven’t even thought about Travis picking in years. This is sounding great!
