I recently came across a guitar lesson by the great fingerpicker and singer Roy Book Binder, who sadly passed away in March of this year.
In his version of “How Long Blues,” he demonstrates the possibilities of the “long A chord” (a barre on the 2nd fret allows you to play embellishments with your other fingers).
To keep it from getting too boring and to make it sound more compact, I added a simple walk-bass line, strumming accompaniment, and harmonica.
Because of my brittle fingernails and to make the individual notes more audible, I played with thumb and metal fingerpicks.
        Here’s the result.

Fantastic job Dieter. Loved the harmonica.

Nice one, Dieter. Love this style of blues picking.

You had my foot tappin’ from the get-go Dieter. Unfamiliar with this one but I loved it. Yes, and great to hear you on the blues harp. All the best! 😎🎸😎

Nice little throw in with that harmonica Dieter. Very nice guitar work there too. I do like that rusty steely blues tone.
