Just trying to breathe between phrases – it’s so easy to want to keep playing and filling air.
Hopefully, I’m saying something meaningful…
Disclaimer – I did fix one bum note post-production. I just couldn’t let it sit there with the rest of the take having gone so well

Nice, I think that’s exactly what Brian had in mind.

The exact response to Brian’s Challenge, spot on WPB with carefully toned bends.

Smooth as butter. Expertly done
Edit: Have listened to this a few times on repeat in my living room. Sounds absolutely brilliant on my speakers. Real professional quality

Thanks so much Ben! Yeah, the recording/mastering turned out really well on this one! More luck than anything else 🙂

Great stuff – Muddy Waters wouldn’t have criticised that. Great tone and playing, a perfect toe-tapper.

Fantastic Slow Blues!! Sounding like a pro. You really let breathe these long notes. Great classy bluesy licks.
Did you play the rhythm guitar yourself?
That turnaround at the end was soo good.
Super fat and clear tone. It sounded like you played with 13er SRV strings.“I did fix one bum note post-production”. haha, it’s convenient if you know how to do that in your DAW.
I haven’t found out how to do it yet.More Blues!

Hi Denise, yes I did play the rhythm guitar part too. The bass and drums were from a track I had.

Nice call and response, WPB, and terrific tone. Love the ending tag.
I didn’t catch the correction but I totally get it. I certainly have fixed a note or slightly shifted the timing of a phrase in my day.

Hi AndreM, yes, the guitar is a partscaster I built myself to specs I wanted – vintage tuners, stainless steel frets, etc. She’s named “Dakota” and has a custom neckplate I designed with her name on.

Oh yeah, WPB. You’re right on the money here. Great bends and vibrato with a killer tone.

WPB-your playing is so purposeful-and phrased so well. NO easy task…. the mindless thing to do would be to start shredding, lol. I enjoy listening to ya. You always have a nice touch.

Way to go WPB, that was a masterclass in bending notes! And nothing wrong with a bit of post-production. I’m pretty sure every famous song has had some post-production done. One sound engineer said he has had to correct the pitch on almost every bass track he has ever recorded.

That lick at 1:10 to 1:15 was totally awesome. I’m going to steal that one. Maybe steal the whole thing. Yes it made me pick up the guitar and play those parts. Again, own of the best challenge weekends in a while.
Go slow and practice correct technique, and your abilities will dramatically improve.

Flawless man, in the pocket from beginning to end. You got the blues on this one, for sure!! (Vibrato at 1:14-1:15 to die for)

Nicely developed themes over the verses. The bends and vibrato really stand out to me, hard to get that so expressive and on pitch as you did, at this tempo, no easy feat. Well done!

Very effective bends, Wpb. And the space you left captures the essence of this kind of blues. Great tone, fantastic guitar, and a player who knows what he’s doing. That’s the recipe for success here.
Take the chance to meet your AM friends on Zoom.
The next Meetup will take place in OctoberThere will be a detailed announcement here in the forum a few weeks before.
I look forward to meet you.

You’ve made us all wanna play more blues after that! Love the conviction you hit the notes going into the big bends. Great job!

Oh yeah, you’re talking to me there wpb!
Just like Bill commented on, that commitment on digging into those big bends really stood out. Then again, it all stood out! Standout Blues!! That’s what I’m trying to say!!
