My wife asked me to cover Play That Song by Train. I decided to do it for her on our 50th Wedding Anniversary. We were married on America’s Bicentennial on July 4th, 1976.
This was a pretty easy song to strum since it’s the same chord progression throughout the entire song. It should have been played finger style but, alas, I was unable to do that so I just strummed it. I also decided to add the bass to it. I don’t have a very good voice but I tried. 🤪
It is based on an old classic which I included about 10 seconds of at the end.
I hope you enjoy it.

Great guitar rhythm and bass playing. I like your vocals, too.

Happy anniversary Joe. That was from the heart and you did great singing. This song would be a great one to change the key on as Pat Monahan’s voice is way up there on the original song. I tried it in several keys and for me at least, the key of C worked better. You should at least try that. That’s with capo at the 5th fret instead of 8th fret.
Go slow and practice correct technique, and your abilities will dramatically improve.

Happy Anniversary Joe. An amazing milestone, especially in this day and age age! 👏👏👏🌟👏👏👏 Great rendition on the song, tight rhythmic and bass playing and … I thought your vocals were fine. To me, if you’re singing in tune you’re 95% there and you nailed that for sure. All the best! 😎🎸😎
PS Enjoyed that last 10 seconds too, great stuff! -
