        Hi all.

I took the riff (at least I think I got it 🙂 ) from the video Brian published yesterday (ML142) and the backing track from EP527.

I don’t really learn riffs but this challenge has made me rethink that as it’s surprising what can be down with a few variations over different chord progressions. For the video I repeated the riff and I still think it sounds ok even if I probably still need to work a bit on the technique.

Looking forward to seeing what everyone else came up with.

        Thanks for watching.

Sounds good! Slight variations on the lick give some extra flavor and interest

Short but perfectly formed. Very nice tweaks and variations on the basic lick. A great demonstration of how much you can get out of a single little phrase

I think you worked that little phrase well showing different variations but keeping it interesting throughout a worthwhile exercise which meets the challenge criteria perfectly.
              Well played.

Nice lick with a variation. It goes well with the backing track.

That’s the freshest lick in this challenge, Dermot. And you incorporated it really well into your playing. Well done!

Impressive how you put something together is such a short time. This is the first time I had to put off watching the weekly lesson in quite a while, so I haven’t even watched it until this morning. The milage that can be gained from those five notes in the middle of pattern #1 cannot be underestimated. Your timing is improving Dermont. That’s the number one thing to get right.

Go slow and practice correct technique, and your abilities will dramatically improve.

Way to go Dermot. Nice way to use a lick and vary it just a little…makes all the difference. Well done.

Sounds good to me, Dermot. If it’s true that you don’t learn any licks = riffs, then you would be the first guitarist I’ve heard of who doesn’t. I suspect that many licks have been absorbed into your consciousness, but maybe you just aren’t aware of it. If you can hear a basic blues shuffle in your head, then you have learned a lick. When a baby is born, it has no licks in its head, but as soon as it starts hearing music, licks are being learned.

Nicely done, your phrasing sounds more purposeful and intentional than in submissions in the past. You left me wanting to hear more! And, that’s a good thing.😎🎸

Hi Dermot, well done, Sir! Your playing is getting smoother, and more melodic. Good riff ideas. I, too, was hoping your would go another couple of rounds on this one. Well, maybe next time.
