Looking for suggestions on lessons with easy fill licks. Looking to improve my timing and the theory behind why the fill licks work. I started playing simple jams in the style of Mannish Boy & Bad to the Bone, but looking to jazz up my playing. I am lost at what to do.

          Hi David,
Under the Lesson heading there’s a subcategory called “Beginner Guitar Lessons (Easy)”. There are a number of lead lessons that utilize a simple shape or some kind of fretboard restraint. There are some great lessons if you go deep in the catalogue, ie. especially below EP 100.

            Hey David,
I would go to the “Lessons Search” and check out “Rhythm and Lead” combined… There are some great arrangments of all levels that will give you an opportunity to add fill licks as you play rhythm stuff. Enjoy.
My favorites are EP 073 and EP 129.
            Have fun!

Oh boy, those are a couple of gems that I haven’t seen yet. I added both to my favorites to go back and work on them when I get some time.

Some of the older lessons before 2015 did not have the Sound Slice tab which is unfortunate, but they are still awesome lessons. That EP129 though has the Sound Slice on screen tab. I went through the first part and there are clearly some licks and idea’s in there that I have not utilized thus far. I can see by the number of comments that it was a popular lesson.

Go slow and practice correct technique, and your abilities will dramatically improve.

Thanks for the suggestions everyone. I’m currently working on EP127. Will keep these banked to check out at some point.

And don’t forget, the “Call and Response” lessons are a showcase of easy fill licks.

I forgot to tell ya the other day, my personal favorite that sounds amazing and is really really slow tempo is ML (Micro lesson 062. The only problem with EP 079 (Carl Perkins Style) is it comes a blazing fast tempo. Rock on my friend!! Have fun. Let us know how it all works out.
