I saw the Beatles live in Indianapolis in 1964. In fact, I was standing right by the stage. I couldn’t believe how good they were. Every song sounded identical to the record-singing and playing. I just came across this video of them playing live on the same tour in Washington, DC. On the solo, George goes wild improvising, and John looks like he can’t believe it. Amazing!!

Hey that was a great example of the audience energy feeding back into the performers. All the energy was concentrated into a point just before the solo, but for the next 20 seconds there was a ton of energy being released. Ringo was murdering that cymbal.
Go slow and practice correct technique, and your abilities will dramatically improve.
Unfortunately, I never had the chance to see the Beatles live, but back then I eagerly awaited every new album and listened to every new song at least 1,000 times with great enthusiasm.
The Fab Four certainly weren’t the world’s best guitarists, but they were—and still are—the most creative team players, and there was no doubt that they put their whole hearts into their music.
By the way, my first music teacher told me back then: “If you want to become a good guitarist, you should model your playing on the Beatles’ style.”
