To create a successful Hook which lasts only 30 seconds is a challenge that composers around the world must strive for every day.
To meet this April Challenge I’ve created hopefully a memorable ‘Hook’ (32 secs) from two rounds of a simple 8 Bar A-B-A-C format which can be played as a solo acoustic or electric in the key of A maj. I’ve included a drum and bass backing to give it some drive with a few harmony fill embellishments along the way.
I’ll now look forward to everyone else’s inspirations and maybe learn what I should have done.
Richard.

You have created a catchy hook there, Richard. Those harmony fill embellishments are definitely an ear worm that would drive a song to be very memorable indeed.

Oh, I think you got it right, Richard. That was a great, catchy sound, definitely a hook.
Love your choice of tone for this, as well.

Sounds like the beginning of a full composition.
Go slow and practice correct technique, and your abilities will dramatically improve.

Liked the sound of that, Richard – could certainly see how this would be the hook of a longer composition. – Mark 👍🎶😎

This can be a great hook for a verse of a song, Richard. I can already hear the chorus in my head. Great idea and wonderful recording!
Take the chance to meet your AM friends on Zoom

Hi Richard , you nailed it ! That is a catchy hook if I ever heard one , I also can hear the Mark Knopfler sound , I think you’ve created the start of something here and maybe one to develop further.

Hi Richard, yes, very nice. I love the folky vibe of this one. It reminds me the early ’60s wave of folk bands, or some early Beatles.

Sounds super, Richard! So upbeat and melodic. This could be from another backing track in a movie.

If hooks can have legs then this one is ready for a run out! Very catchy with just the right level of simplicity that it would sit as the basis of a song. You just need to provide the rest now 😀. Great sub Richard

Just perfect, Richard! Definitely very Knopfler-esque with a catchy melody forming behind the strums, I could almost hear the lyrics forming! A masterwork! 🙌
