While re-wiring a strat pickup I stupidly touched the hot soldering iron and now have a burned and bandaged forefinger.
The upside: when acoustic finger picking I always used the forefinger far too much – but now it’s out of action, I’m forced to use the other three fingers, and I can feel the improvement!
As the famous adage goes – Out of adversity comes opportunity’ All the best David.

Better the picking/strumming hand than the coveted left hand fingers. Not sure how bad the burn is, but if it was just a quick touch, then it will heal pretty quickly. I have been working with electronics my entire life and have been burned by that hot stick a few times, but I always reacted from the that sizzling sound first and pulled away.
Hopefully you didn’t burn it that bad and will be up and picking fully again in a week or two. Looking on the bright side is always the wise way to react.
Go slow and practice correct technique, and your abilities will dramatically improve.
