Hi Guys and Girls. I have started practising this months challenge(May) and try as hard as I may. I just cant seem to get a handle on this muted strumming. I don’t know where I am going wrong here, guitar angle, my strumming hand angle or something else.
So. help, tips, and pointers on how you mastered muted strumming would be a great help.
        Thanks
        Billy

@Billy M, I think the secret just finally came to me in this lesson. It requires both hands. Brian releases pressure on the fretting hand, but mostly as a backup and to prevent the higher pitched strings from accidentally ringing out. The most effective part of the muted chuck comes from striking the thicker 3 or 4 strings. You have to bring the meaty part of the side of the hand against the thicker strings simultaneously with your strum.
So don’t try to cover all strings with the strumming hand just, the thicker ones and try to muted strum just those 3 or 4 strings.

I agree with @Charjo, you gotta use your strumming hand to mute.

Thanks John, that may well be just where I am going wrong. I am trying to play all 6 strings which is making the down mute strum awkward wrist action. I will try as you suggest and shorten the mute strum to cover the E,A,D strings..
              thanks to Bryce too.
