Frank is from Canada, and his use of double stops & triads are showcased in this song, followed by a jazzish improve showcasing harmonics! The drummer in this band really shows how to back it up!!

What is this about? Is it something specific about learning Blues guitar?

The June Monthly Challenge is to play something using harmonized thirds. This video showcases some of his harmonized thirds, and maybe could provide some inspiration if you are planning to post a monthly challenge submission. The challenge is due Friday July 11, so better hurry if you are planning to submit.

Certainly a class player Sal, with a variety of creative runs. I’ve not heard of him before now, I’ll add him to my auto-feed. Thanks …….

Wow, what an impressive player! I heard influences of Allman Brothers, Johnny Winter, and even some George Benson. Thanks for introducing him to me Sal.

Nice one Sal, Every time I hear this guy I just appreciate him more. Why he’s not a household name is beyond me. Certainly been around for awhile going back to Mahogany Rush days. Really creative player and a solid voice to match.

Yeah Mike, he certainly has some miles on him! He hurt his hand recently and was forced to stop touring! Hope he heals up ok, and continues to play!

Thanks for putting him on my radar, Sal. I can certainly appreciate his playing.
Interesting instrument, a Gibson SG with a single coil Strat alignment complete with whammy bar. No guitar has better access to the upper frets. Is this his regular guitar?

Yeah John, this is his main guitar as far as I can tell! I think he does his own modifying with the pickups, and the whammy bar has a special handle he devised! He quit playing for 9 yrs at a younger age, and started a business building computers, so I think! he has a lot of know how in electronics! Anyhow,he got back into playing and his wife ran the business!

Frank Marino is an amazing player & this song is an excellent example of his abilities
He recently had to stop performing due to an undisclosed health issue and he released this multi DVD set to generate some income. Fans didn’t know if it would ever be released because it was “in the works” for several yearsEvery video that I’ve seen of Frank, he’s playing a SG but like this one has Strat pickups. I’ve seen him have a SG set up with humbuckers, P90s and a Tele setup.
Here’s his version of Red House – very different than what we are used to. More like a slow blues
His version of Watchtower is excellent but also very different than what Jimi released.
He was likened to Hendrix as was Robin Trower but both players very much had their own style
