Hi and good challenge to everyone!
For this challenge I used a backing track I created with piano, acoustic guitar, a bass part played with a midi keyboard (Ample Bass P Lite II virtual instrument) and the drums part created with EzDrummer 3, that I recently purchased after a trial period.
My limitation was playing only in the 3d position of the A major scale on the guitar.
The piece is of course in A major :
Verse: A – E/A (or Asus2Maj7) – G/A – D/A (2 cycles at the beginning and 1 cycle at the end)
Bridge: E – F#m – G – D – F- C -D (1 cycle)As you can see there are 3 chords outside the diatonic chord progression in A: G, F and C. In consequence I didn’t play only notes from the A major scale, but also a natural G and a natural C on those outside chords, but anyway always sticking to the 3d position with some half-tone bends.

Nice one Guido! Inspiring and uplifting sound to this, and a nice complete chord progression. Great job recording all the parts too.

Wonderful chilled blues, Guido – beautifully played with a great tone too. You took a similar approach to me, in sticking to a single position. Nicely done 👍🎶😎

Nice work Guido , sounds so melodic , you played a very pleasing to the ear chord progression , the lead built nicely throughout .
All parts recorded and mixed superbly .Martin

Hi Guido, really great composition with interesting chords. I’ll have to think about the theoretical background later. It sounds so well and harmonious, it`s hard to believe this was all played in one position.
Extra kudos for how well the instruments sit in the mix.

Who needs a backup band?
Terrific playing on the guitar, but the composition was the most impressive part. It had a classic feel but was still new and original. Very thoughtful work.,
(I guess the point to this challenge is overcoming the limitations of our creativity..)

Backing track is groovy and well done. Lead fits perfectly, and you got a lot of melody out of that small space!

Lovely melodic composition executed perfectly. Very impressive backing as well. There’s lot to like here, Guido, apart from anything else there were some really tasty bends. The whole thing fit together so neatly.

Hi Guido, I like the way you layer in all the parts on this. A good mix and mellow, melodic tune. Really enjoyed it!

Great job, Guido! I knew you could play a guitar properly, but I didn’t know you had such keyboard skills. Maybe we should all learn a bit of keyboard to expand our musical skill set.

Thanks Steve! But I play just chords with keyboard and some passing notes in between, something very simple. But playing chords on piano sometimes can give some good musical ideas for a composition, because it’s easier to play extended chords than on guitar.

That soared upward, beautifully done. As a multi-instrumentalist you have a talent to bring multiple sounds together so harmoniously. Awesome.

You may have set yourself a limitation, but as far as the production is concerned, Guido, you went all out. It’s great how you recorded all the parts yourself and created beautiful music that is simply fun to listen to. Great job, Guido!
Take the chance to meet your AM friends on Zoom
The next Meetup will probably take place in the second half of AugustThere will be a detailed announcement here in the forum in good time.

Beautiful backing track and lead Guido! I’m often in a hurry to escape from one single box, while you’ve shown how much one can get from it, thanks for the inspiration!
If I wasn't making mistakes I wouldn't be the kind of player I want to be. Perfection is dangerous.
It's all about taking risks, sometimes you get to some place, sometimes you get to a different place. (Brian May) -

Superb composition Guido, that oozed style and sophistication. I loved your chord progression and piano made an excellent foil to the lead guitar. You certainly found plenty of melody in that third position.
(I’ve always thought of that as position 4 but I guess it depends on where you start counting 😀.) -

Such a lovely composition, Guido!
It started off as a sweet ballad but it could easily morph into a rock anthem which you hinted on. Excellent performance on all the instruments, you’re quite a virtuoso and a gear head! 😉
What inspired your writing of this particular song?

Thanks JoLa! Honestly, for the verse chord progression I took inspiration (copied) from a flat picking lesson I saw in YouTube, changing a bit the rhythm. It’s a sequence of chords with a drone of A on the bass (5th string) and E on the 1st string, whereas I “invented” by my self the bridge (I mean, very probably I had some unconscious inspiration also for this, like always!) .
