Hi AM Friends,
This backing track was a challenge for me with so much hanging out on the one chord! I decided to go with the Maj7 sound and created a rhythm track basically playing the same thing I play in the video for the first 20 or so bars and then recorded over that. Oh, and I sped the backing track up to 130bmp. Hope you enjoy!

Cool submission Alan. Loved the steady rhythmic playing and the lead over the top. Great also to see another Supro Delta King on the site. Is yours an 8, 10 or 12? All the best! 😎🎸😎

Thanks Gary! It is a 12. We scooped it up on vaca in Florida last year. Nice little amp!

Great idea to speed up the BT: it gives a complete different vibe and it’s something refreshing to hear, especially thanks to your composition over it, really enjoyable to listen to! Loved the choice of the major7 chords, it gives a relaxed, smooth vibe and then your choice of melodic phrases, licks and arpeggi on top of it was really very nice and well played. An original and great job!

Hey Alan we both went for MAJ7, nice choice.
Very nice mix of rhythm and lead parts.
Great tone from little amp, is it tube?AndréM

Hi Andre, yes that little Delta King is a tube amp. However, this recording was made using an HX Stomp (no amp).

Hi Alan, you’ve created a great rhythm feel in this one. It reminds me of some classic country-rock tunes. I could only hear blues on this track, but you’ve taken it a different direction and I like it a lot.

Love the Major 7 chords. Very groovy, and melodic.

You injected some life into a potentially moribund backing track.
Your take had enough repetition to provide a comfortable familiarity by the time you got to the end. The careful picking of the melody from amidst the chords was also a nice touch.
Well done! -

I like your major take on this Alan. I too had problems with it hanging on one chord so long, but you tackled it nicely and have a very uplifting sound on it.

That worked really well, Alan. I like the maj 7 vibe, almost went that way myself. Well played!

You may have speeded up the BT, Alan, but what you created is no uptempo number, but a mellow relaxing piece. I have so much fun to listening to it. A great soundtrack for a sunny morning in Germany like today.
Take the chance to meet your AM friends on Zoom
The next Meetup is expected to take place in November 2025There will be a detailed announcement here in the forum in good time.
I look forward to meet you.

An absolutely catchy and beautiful arrangement. The rhythm and solo(s) compliment each other nicely. You certainly have that creative ability. Well done.John

Speed it up and create a backing track – now why didn’t I think of that? Too one dimensional I guess, so glad I listened to what you did. It was so mellow and relaxing! A+.

I really like what you did here, Alan! Even though you sped up the track, the Maj7 chords and your repetitive motifs made it sound very relaxing, almost dreamy – the kind of music I would wanna listen to on a long bus or train ride while watching the world go by through the window. It would also make a great soundtrack for a similar scene. Very creative, well done!

Good idea Alan on the quicker track for your composition here. Nice chords and then wonderful lead at the end!

The maj7 sound goes perfectly with the track. Nice rhythm and a wonderful positive lead. This could be a perfect intro for a new song of yours….
Very inspirational.
