JUMPIN’ BACKING TRACK…I ACTUALLY PREFER THE SLOWED DOWN VERSION OF THIS. LEAVES MORE ROOM FOR BREATHING, BUT THIS FAST TRACK WAS FUN TOO.

MOST PLAYERS PROBABLY DON’T PAY TOO MUCH ATTENTION TO BRIAN’S BASS PLAYING, BUT I’VE PLAYED BASS FOR 50+YEARS AND BRIAN IS AS GOOD ON BASS AS HE IS ON GUITAR. HE REALLY GROOVES ON THIS ONE.

ADDED MY OWN IMPROVS. STARTING AT ABOUT 00:33.

        THANKS FOR LISTENING,
        RALPH

That was jumping Ralph. Your improv was a delight as well.

Cracking performance Ralph. This moves along so well. Tight guitar playing and a very cool improv addition. Especially loved the repeated motif around the 1 minute mark. 👏👏🌟👏👏 All the best! 😎🎸😎

Very good playing Ralph 😄. You timing on this was spot on.

This is a lesson I actually did a way back and certainly did not do as well as you have on it. For some reason I have ever been as comfortable with Brian’s BB King lessons. It’s not a style I play well and the bends crush me 😵‍💫.

Clearly this is not a problem for you at all.

Thank You Geoff. I know your classical background doesn’t include string bending. The more blues and rock styles you play I’m sure you’ll get better at string bending. I read once that someone asked Eric Clapton if he practiced guitar, and he said the only thing he practices is string bending.

                          Stay Well Geoff,

Nice playing Ralph! Great work on your improv too. That’s up tempo for sure and the bass line keeps it movin.

Thanks Mike. I’m glad you liked it. Brian’s bass lines really did propel the song along.

Nice! Love this early BB Jumping sound. Really slick playing Ralph.
What gear did you use? Captured the sound really well.

Thanks Bill. I intended to play my ES-339 through a Princeton amp model, but I did a practice run with my Strat through my $120 Fender Mustang Micro Plus Headphone Amp. Not very High-Tech, but I liked the practice run through so I kept it.

                                    Thanks for listening Bill,

You are amazing Ralph 👏 ❤️ it is so challenging to play fast and keep the rhythm tight and your improvising fitted perfectly. I would never dare play such a lesson but I can assure you I can dance to it.Its jive and it’s so uplifting 🤩🤩🤩

Thank You Helen…When I got back into playing again this was the first lesson that I saved. I learned it 3-4 months ago and figured I’d better record it before I forgot it.

I was lucky enough to get to see BB live. A friend of mine called me up at the last minute and said “Hey, wanna go see BB King tonight?” and I said “Hell yes, let’s go”.

BB’s band had been playing for about 5 minutes, then the spotlight was turned on and BB heads for the stage with his white suit on. He played one BB Note and the whole place stood up and cheered. Of course his guitar playing was awesome, but he also had the best Blues Voice I’ve ever heard.

After the show I got to talk to his band for about 10 minutes, and they were all great musicians and loved talking music with me. Great experience and great memories.
